AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 12-19 AND SECTION 12-28 OF THE CODE
OF ORDINANCES, CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF
PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. That Section 12-19 "Number, Rank and Salaries of
Members" of the Code of Ordinances, City of Paducah, Kentucky, be
amended and reordained so that said Section as amended and reordained
shall be as follows:
"SEC. 12-19. Number, rank and salaries of members.
(a) The number and rank of the members of the fire department
of the city and their monthly salaries, provided such salaries are not
changed by any annual apportionment ordinance hereafter adopted, shall
be as follows:

(b) Assistant Chiefs shall be paid at the rate of $725.00 per
month until such time as they have completed seventeen (17) years of
service with the city; at the expiration of seventeen (17) years of
service they shall be paid at the rate of $730.00 per month, and at the
expiration of twenty (20) years of service they shall be paid at the
rate of $735.00 per month.
(c) Captain shall be'paid at the rate of $670.00 per month until
he has served with the city for fourteen (14) years; at the expiration
of fourteen (14) years he shall be paid at the rate of $675.00 per
month; at the expiration of seventeed (17) years he shall be paid at
the rate of $680.00 per month, and for all months of service after
twenty (20) years he shall be paid at the rate of $685.00 per month.
(d) The inspector shall be paid at the rate of $620.00 per month
for all sefvice through eleven (11) years with the city; at the expiration

of eleven (11) years the rate of pay shall be $625.00 per month; at the
expiration of fourteen (14) years of service the rate of pay shall be
$630.00 per month; at the expiration of seventeen (17) years of service,
and for all service thereafter, the rate of pay shall be $635.00 per month.
(e) Engineers shall be paid at the same rate per month as provided
for the inspector.
(f) Firemen shall be paid at the rate of $530.00 per month for the
first six (6) months; at the expiration of six (6) months of service with
the city the rate of pay shall be $540.00 per month; at the end of one
year of service the rate of pay shall be $550.00 per month; at the end
of the second year of service the rate of pay shall be $560.00 per
month; for all service between the third and fifth years, the rate of
pay shall be $570.00 per month; for service between the fifth and
eighth year, the rate of pay shall be $575.00 per month; for all service
between the eighth and eleventh year the rate of pay shall be $580.00
per month; for service between the eleventh and fourteenth year, the
rate of pay shall be $585.00 per month, and for all service beyond
fourteen (14) years the rate of pay shall be $590.00 per month."
SECTION 2. Section 12-28 of the Code of Ordinances, City of
Paducah, Kentucky pertaining to Switchboard Operator be amended and re -
ordained so that said Section as amended and reordained shall be as
follows:
"Sec. 12-28 Same -Salary.
Any person occupying the position of non -civil service fire
department switchboard operator shall be paid at the rate of $461.00
per month for the first six (6) months of employment; at the expiration
of six (6) months $466.00 per month; at the expiration of one year
$471.00 per month; at the expiration of two (2) years $476.00 per month,
at the expiration of three (3) years $481.00 per month; at the expi-
ration of five (5) years $486.00 per month; at the expiration of eight
(8) years $491.00 per month; at the expiration of eleven (11) years
$496.00 per month; at the expiration of fourteen (14) years $501.00
per month; at the expiration of seventeen (17) years $506.00 per month,
and at the expiration of twenty (20) years and for all services thereafter,
$511.00 per month."

SECTION 3. Section 1 herein amends an ordinance adopted December
11, 1951, and last amended by Section 1 of Ordinance No. 70-6-339 which
was adopted by the Board of Commissioners on June 23, 1970. Section 2
of this ordinance amends Section 5 of an ordinance adopted February 28,
1965 and last amended by Section 1 of Ordinance No. 70-6-334 adopted
June 23, 1970.
SECTION 4. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect retro-
active to May 3, 1971.
