HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances Book 17, Page 42, No Resolution Number42� A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR CONSTRUCTING A GRAVITY SEWER CROSSING UNDER THE RAILROAD TRACKS AT HELEN STREET AND UNDER THE RAILROAD TRACK AT ST. LOUIS AVENUE AND UNDER THE CAIRO ROAD AT HELEN STREET IN THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. That the City Manager be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to advertise for bids for constructing a gravity sewer crossing under the railroad tracks at Helen Street and under the railroad track at St. Louis Avenue and under the Cairo Road at Helen Street in the City of Paducah, Kentucky, and said work to be done on the following terms, conditions and stipulations: The work contemplated shall include all labor, excavation, tamped backfill and boring by dry bore methods, materials, equipment, trans- portation, services and incidental items, including casing, iron pipe and fittings, necessary to construct the gravity sewer crossing under the railroad tracks at Helen Street, and under the railroad track at St. Louis Avenue, and under the Cairo Road at Helen Street as shown on the plans or as directed by the Engineer. Installation methods shall fully meet the requirements of the Kentucky State Department of Highways and the Illinois Central Railroad. Persons desiring to submit bids shall do so on the basis of furnish- ing all labor and materials to complete the installation of the casing and cast iton pipe. All work to be performed under the direction of the City of Paducah Engineering Department. Such work shall be paid for upon certification of the completion thereof and when approved by the City Engineer. The successful bidder shall execute a performance bond in the amount of the estimated cost of the work to insure the proper performance and completion of said work, and in addition thereto will be required to keep in full force and effect liability insurance protecting the city from any claim from persons or property of persons in the following amounts: $100,000 for personal injury or death to any one person; $300,000 for personal injury or death to more than one person resulting from the same accident, and $10,000 for property damage in any one accident. SECTION 2. The City Manager shall advertise for bids by a notice posted at the City Hall door and by inserting notice of the request for bids in the Paducah Sun -Democrat to be published as required by law. All bids shall be sealed and no bid shall be received after the hour fixed in the notice for the opening of same. All bids received by the City Manager up to the time fixed for the opening of bids shall be filed with the Board of Commissioners who may let a contract to the lowest and best bidder, and the Board of Commissioners shall reserve the right to reject any and all bids and the City shall not become legally obligated to have such services performed until the adoption of an ordinance authorizing the execution of a contract for same. SECTION 3. This resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its adoption.
