HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances Book 17, Page 304, No Resolution Number304 / A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE CITY MANAGER TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR ONE OR TWO TRUCKS, WITHOUT BODIES, FOR USE IN THE REFUSE DIVISION OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY, AND PRESCRIBING THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS UPON WHICH SUCH PURCHASE SHALL BE MADE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. That the City Manager be, and he is hereby, requested to advertise for bids for the purchase of one or two trucks, without bodies, for use in the refuse division of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, and having the following specifications: Manufacturers GVW rating 35,000 pounds minimum Motor: 400 cubic inch minimum Transmission: 5 speed Cab to Axle: .135 inch minimum Two (2) speed rear axle 23,000 pound minimum rear axle load 12,000 pound minimum front axle load Clutch: Heavy duty Heavy duty increased capacity cooling system 45 ampere volt alternator minimum Heavy duty springs, front and rear Brakes: Heavy duty Dual electric windshield wipers Front bumper equipped with tow hooks Directional signals and emergency flasher West Coast type rear view mirrors, one each side Fresh air type heater, equipped with defroster Tires - minimum 12 -ply - 100 level tires and tubes with mounted spare Color - Omaha orange and black as designated by using agency. The successful bidder will be required to deliver the truck or trucks to be purchased to the packer manufacturer whose bid is accepted by the City, and each bidder shall state the amount acceptable for the purchase of each truck bid upon delivered as required, including any and all applicable taxes. The City shall have the option of accepting one or both trucks as offered. 305 Each bidder shall further state the amount he will accept for a trade- in of four refuse trucks with packers to be designated for trade-in by the City Manager, which such designated equipment may be inspected at the public works department refuse division in the City of Paducah, such trade-ins to be made at the option of the City. The trucks to be bid upon shall be capable of carrying a 20 cubic yard refuse packer similar to the Garwood or Leech Type. SECTION 2. The City Manager shall advertise for sealed bids by notice posted up at the City Hall door and by publication pursuant to KRS Chapter 424. No bid shall be opened within ten days from the date on which resolution is adopted, and no bid shall be received after the hour fixed for the opening of bids. All bids received by the City Manager up to the time for the opening of same shall be filed with the Board of Commissioners who may let a contract to the lowest responsible bidder. The City shall have the right to refuse and reject any and all bids. SECTION 3. This resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its adoption.
