HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances Book 17, Page 245, Ordinance Number 70-8-365245 / ORDINANCE NO. 70-8-365 AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO CONTRACTS R THE COLLECTION OF DELINQUENT REAL AND PERSONAL PROPERTY TAXES WHEREAS, the City has a substantial amount of delinquent taxes ich are due for many and various past years, and WHEREAS, many of said taxes are owing from taxpayers beyond the ea of Paducah and for personal properties that either no longer ist or are not in the local jurisdiction, and WHEREAS, the City needs a unique service to locate delinquent xpayers within and without the City of Paducah, and WHEREAS, the City needs the experience, methods and contacts of llecting agents who are affiliated with a nationwide or international oup for the collection of many of its delinquent taxes, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF E CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. That the City Manager be, and he is hereby, authorized enter into contracts for the collection of delinquent real and rsonal property tax bills and to establish criteria for which bills, ich years, and what amount of delinquent taxes without discrimination among any taxpayers will be turned over to agents for such collection. SECTION 2. Said contracts may provide for payment of a percentage of the amount collected in amounts not exceeding one-third for local collections or one-half for out of town collections or when suit is filed before collection. SEC'PTOil 3.
