HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances Book 17, Page 220, Ordinance Number 70-6-354220 / ORDINANCE NO. 70-6-354 AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH THE INSTITUTE OF ELECTRONIC TECHNOLOGY AS CO-SPONSOR OF A COLLEGE WORK STUDY PROGRAM WHEREAS the College Work Study Program authorizes grants to certain educational institutions for part payment of wages for students to be employed by public organizations, and WHEREAS the Institute of Electronic Technology in Paducah, Kentucky, has obtained such a grant and desires to arrange participation in public works for its students with the City of Paducah, Kentucky, NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. That the City Manager be, and he is hereby, authorized to execute a contract between the City of Paducah and the Institute of Electronic Technology, a division of Electronic Sales Engineers, Inc. an Indiana Corporation, as a co-sponsor in a college work study program, said agreement to provide for a minimum of twenty-five and a maximum of fifty participants for average work of fifteen hours per week for a period not exceeding six months, at hourly wages of $1.60 for regular' work and $2.00 per hour for supervisory work, in which the City will be obligated to pay twenty percent of the total cost, plus providing workman's compensation insurance for the participants. SECTION 2. The effective date of said contract shall be July 1, 1970, and the maximum amount to be expended as wages under said contract shall be $5,000.00. SECTION 3. The Board hereby finds an emergency exists to implement the benefits of this contract at the earliest possible date, and this ordinance shall there€tire be introduced and remain on file for one week in the completed form in which it shall be put upon its final passage, and if adopted shall be in full force and effect immediately thereafter, and retroactive to July 1, 1970.
