HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances Book 17, Page 21, No Resolution NumberA RESOLUTION RECOMMENDING THAT THE 1970 GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF KENTUCKY TAKE NO ACTION TO PREVENT UNIFORM DAYLIGHT SAVING TIME WHEREAS, the City of Paducah, Kentucky, is immediately adjacent to or in close proximity with the states of Illinois, Missouri, Arkansas and Tennessee of which all will observe the uniform or daylight saving time during the year 1970, and WHEREAS, many industries in Western Kentucky and in the Paducah area are affiliated with organizations existing in or doing business in the eastern time zone, and WHEREAS, should Kentucky not remain on uniform time, the businesses requiring coordination and contact with businesses in the eastern time zone will have a two hour difference reducing the simultaneous work time by an additional two hours per day, which loss of time would seriously impair the operation of such businesses, NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. That this Board endorses and recommends uniform or daylight saving time for the entire state of Kentucky, and specifically for Western Kentucky, and it finds that uniform time is essential for the economic health and unimpaired commerce of the Commonwealth of Kentucky. SECTION 2. That the Mayor be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to forward a copy of this Resolution to each and every member of the 1970 General Assembly, including all Senators and Representatives and to all elected executive officials, including but not limited to, the Governor of the Commoneralth of Kentucky. SECTION 3. This Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its adoption.
