HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances Book 17, Page 208, Ordinance Number 70-6-3462 08 ORDINANCE NO. 70-6-346 AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO EXECUTE A LEASE WITH PADUCAH PROMOTIONS, INC., FOR THE USE OF CERTAIN CITY PROPERTY DURING THE PADUCAH SUMMER FESTIVAL, AND AUTHORIZING TEMPORARY CLOSING OF TWO STREETS FOR USE BY PADUCAH PROMOTIONS, INC., DURING THE FESTIVAL ON JULY 11 AND 12, 1970 BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. That the Mayor and City Clerk, be, and they are hereby, authorized to execute a lease by and between the City of Paducah, Kentucky and Paducah Promotions, Inc., for the use of South 2nd Street between Broadway and Kentucky Avenue, and that property east of the Floodwall and between the South line of Jefferson Street, if extended, and the north line of Washington Street, if extended, to be used for the Paducah Summer Festival on July 11 and 12, 1970. The lease shall make provision that the Lessee save the City harmless under any and all conditions, that the consideration be for the sum of $1.00, that the property be used for the Paducah Summer Festival purposes only, that the Lessee shall have the right to sublease the property for such purposes and activities, and that the Lessee shall return the property to the City at the expiration of the lease in a clean and neat condition. SECTION 2. That for purposes of providing space for exhibits of arts and crafts the Chief of Police is hereby authorized and directed to temporarily close to vehicular traffic South 2nd Street on the east and west sides of the Market house between Broadway and Kentucky Avenue from 12:01 A.M., Saturday, July 11 until 5:00 P.M. Sunday July 12, 1970, provided, however, that one-half of the street portion of South 2nd Street on each side of the Market House shall remain unobstructed to provide for clearance and use by any emergency vehicles that may be required to enter the area. The portion authorized to be closed is from curb to curb only and shall not include sidewalks. SECTION 3. The Chief of Police is hereby authorized and empowered to close to vehicular traffic all roadways from the floodwall to the water's edge at and between the entrances on Broadway and Kentucky Avenue from 12:01 A.M., July 11, 1970 until 5:00 P.M., July 12, 1970, and the City 209 hereby temporarily closes from free public access and use all that area of land belonging to the City of Paducah and lying east of the floodwall and south of the south line of Jefferson Street, if extended, and north of the north line of Washington Street, if extended, said temporary closing to be from 12:01 A.M., July 11, 1970 until 5:00 P.M., July 12, 1970.
