HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances Book 17, Page 200, Ordinance Number 70-6-341200 / ORDINANCE NO. 70-6-341 AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING A SPECIAL PARK POLICE FORCE; DESIGNATING THE POLICE POWERS; AND ESTABLISHING PROCEDURES AND STANDARDS BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION I. That pursuant to Chapter 97 of the Kentucky Revised Statutes, there is hereby created a special park police force. Said special park police force shall consist of such persons as may be employed for that purpose by the Parks, Playground and Recreation Board of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, or by the City of Paducah in the event the present governing board is changed to an advisory board of park commissioners. SECTION 2. The special park police force shall be under the direction of the Director of Parks, and such police shall have such duties as may be prescribed and designated by said Director. SECTION 3. The minimum age for members of the special park police force shall be 21 years, and park, playground and recreation employees whose normal duties do not include police work may, by specific assignment and authorization be given an additional duty as park policeman and made a member of the special park police force. SECTION 4. Members of said special park police force, while upon park property, parkways, park boulevards, or other property owned and controlled by the City of Paducah, Kentucky, and while in pursuit of a person whose arrest was attempted on such property, shall have the same powers as members of the police force of the City of Paducah, Kentucky.
