HomeMy WebLinkAbout2001-8-6397ORDINANCE NO. 2001-8- AN ORDINANCE ACCEPTING THE TRANSFER OF REAL ESTATE KNOWN AS THE PADUCAH RECREATION DEPARTMENT, SENIOR CITIZENS CENTER AND CHILD CARE CENTER LOCATED AT 1400 H. C. MATHIS DRIVE, FROM THE COMMONWEALTH OF KENTUCKY, AND AUTHORIZING THE TRANSFER OF SAID REAL ESTATE TO THE CITY OF PADUCAH WHEREAS, the 2000 General Assembly passed Senate Bill 212 which amended KRS 194.245, effective August 1, 2000, allowing senior citizens centers and day care centers constructed pursuant to the statute to be transferred to the city, county or urban county government in which the center is located; and WHEREAS, the City of Paducah has requested that the property housing the Paducah Recreation Department, Senior Citizens Center and Child Care Center, located at 1400 H.C. Mathis Drive in the City of Paducah, be transferred to the City of Paducah as specified in Senate Bill 212, by adoption of a Resolution of the Paducah City Commission dated January 9, 2001; and WHEREAS, the City of Paducah has agreed to operate a senior citizens center and a day care center in accordance with the public purposes set forth in KRS 194.245, as required by Senate Bill 212; and WHEREAS, the parties hereto have met all Statutory requirements for transfer of this property to the City of Paducah, Kentucky. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. The City of Paducah hereby accepts the transfer of real estate known as the Paducah Recreation Department, Senior Citizens Center and Child Care Center from the Commonwealth of Kentucky, of tracts of property located at 1400 H. C. Mathis Drive, and being more particularly described as follows: Block 7, containing Lots 1 thru 22 and Lots 1, 2, and 20 thru 26 of Block 8 what was the Rowlandtown Addition to the City of Paducah, containing approximately 5.89 acres SECTION 2. The Mayor is hereby authorized to execute any and all documents necessary to accomplish the purpose of transferring the above-described real estate to the City of Paducah. SECTION 4. This ordinance shall be read on two separate days and will become effective upon summary publication pursuant to KRS Chapter 424.
