HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances Book 17, Page 165, Ordinance Number 70-5-327165 ORDINANCE NO. 70-5-327 AN ORDINANCE CREATING A CHARITABLE GIFT ACCOUNT FOR THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY, AND PRESCRIBING PROCEDURES FOR ITS OPERATION WHEREAS, as a governmental body, the City of Paducah may receive charitable gifts and the donors or testators may obtain tax deductipns for such gifts, and WHEREAS, the City needs revenue for many purposes which could be substantially supported or initiated from gifts, bequest's and endowments, and WHEREAS at this time the City of Paducah needs substantial sums of money over its anticipated tax revenues for the reconstruction of the swimming pool and bath house facilities at Noble Park, NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. That the City Treasurer establish an account entitled "City of Paducah Charitable Gift Receipt Account" for the purpose of accounting for all gifts received and accepted by the City. SECTION 2. That the City Treasurer be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to establish all necessary bank accounts and procedures and systems necessary to receive, accept and account for all charitable gifts of any nature and from any source which may come to the City, and to provide appropriate receipts to all donors or testators and to establish procedures for appraising non-cash gifts. SECTION 3. The City Manager is hereby directed to determine the acceptability of all gifts for designated purposes other than operations and facilities now operated or owned by the City. SECTION 4. The City Manager is hereby given the duty of promoting gifts for the City for general purposes and for such specific purposes as the Board may from time to time find to be a need of the City.
