HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances Book 17, Page 14, No Resolution NumberA RESOLUTION APPROVING THE DESIGN AND SPECIFICATIONS FOR A SCULPTURED FOUNTAIN FOR THE CITY HALL BUILDING, AND AUTHORIZING ITS INSTALLATION WHEREAS, the Civic Beautification Board, together with the Council Of Garden Clubs of Paducah, has obtained a design for a sculptured fountain for the City Hall from James Garner of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, and WHEREAS, the said Board and Council have offered to obtain the sculpture work for the City at no expense to the City, and WHEREAS, before contracting with James Garner, the Board and Council need acceptance of the design and specifications and approval for installation, NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. That the following design and specifications for a centerpiece for the fountain in the City Hall building be approved: The sculpture shall be of bronze and brass and have copper water supply pipes. It shall stand approximately 10 feet high above the platform and it shall have a maximum width of 7 feet. The platform and water connection shall be mountable on the existing platform on the fountain. The design theme shall be floral with hollow stems for conducting water to pods at varying heights. Spray heads shall be mounted in various pods. The design shall be generally as shown on the photographs of the model, which photographs are attached hereto and made a part hereof. SECTION 2—That the Board agrees to accept the sculpture and permit its installation, provided the artist makes the installation and guarantees the performance of the fountain and the workability of each pod for a period of not less than one (1) year. SECTION 3. This Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its adoption. Rev. W. G.
