HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances Book 17, Page 130, No Resolution Number130 V A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR THE PURCHASE OF ONE NEW 1970 STATION WAGON FOR USE IN THE INSPECTION DEPARTMENT, AND PRESCRIBING THE CONDITIONS UPON WHICH SUCH PURCHASE SHALL BE MADE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, IENTUCKY: SECTION 1. That the City Manager be, and he is hereby, requested to advertise for bids for the sale to the City of Paducah, Kentucky, of one new 1970 station wagon having the following specifications: Minimum wheel base of 119" 15 inch wheels Full 4 -ply tires (no 2 -ply with 4 -ply rating) Power steering Power Brakes Air conditioning, factory installed Package to be described in detail, to include but not be limited to, a heavy duty battery, a heavy duty alternator or generator with a minimum 60 ampere rating, power front disc brakes, and dual exhausts, and separate pulleys for fan and generator. Seat belts, with automatic rollers for each Minimum 250 horsepower engine Color: Light colored body Heavy duty automatic transmission Heater and defroster Standard equipment to be described fully Dual sun visors Back-up lights Spare tire and wheel Each bidder shall state the amount he will accept in cash for the purchase of the vehicle specified above, and also the amount of such purchase price to be allowed by accepting as trade-in one 1963 Chevrolet Impala, four door sedan, owned by the City of Paducah at this time and in use by the Paducah Inspection Department, less radio. Said vehicle may be inspected at the City Hall. Each bidder shall state in his bid the popular name and model upon which he bids, and if requested, will exhibit at the City Hall to the City Officials a similar car of the model bid upon with the equipment 131 offered, and shall also state the approximate length of time required for delivery after a contract is awarded. SECTION 2. The City Manager shall advertise for sealed bids by posting a notice at the City Hall door and by inserting notice of the request for bids in the Paducah Sun -Democrat to be published not less than seven days nor more than twenty-one days before the date fixed for the opening of bids. All bids shall be sealed and no bid shall be received after the hour fixed in the notice for the opening of same. All bids received by the City Manager up to the time fixed in the notice for the opening of same shall be filed with the Board of Commissioners who may let a contract to the lowest and best bidder, and the Board of Commissioners shall reserve the right to reject any and all bids, and the City shall not become legally obligated to any bidder until the adoption of an ordinance authorizing the execution of a purchase contract.
