HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances Book 17, Page 1194, No Resolution Number1194; bV A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING FILING OF APPLICATION WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, FOR A CONSTRUCTION GRANT UNDER THE TERMS OF PUBLIC LAW 89-177, AS AMENDED WHEREAS, Section 702 of the Housing and Urban Development Act of 1965 provides for the making of application for Grants to aid in financing the construction of specific projects; and WHEREAS, the City of Paducah desires to make certain improvements to the municipal water system; and WHEREAS, it is recognized that the contract for a Federal Grant will impose certain obligations and responsibilities upon the Applicant and will require, among other things, (1) compliance with Fcderal labor standards and (2) compliance with Federal requirements relating to equal employment opportunity; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. That the Mayor is'hereby authorized and directed to execute and to file an application on behalf of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, with the Department of Housing and Urban Development, for a Grant to aid in financing the construction of water storage and distribu- tion system improvements; SECTION 2. That the Mayor is hereby authorized and directed to provide additional information and to furnish such documents as may reasonably be requested by the Department of Housing and Urban Develop- ment, and to act as the authorized correspondent of the applicant; SECTION 3. That an application be made to the Department of Housing and Urban Development for a grant in an amount authorized by Public Law 89-177, Section 702 as amended, which amount is presently estimated to be $500,000.00 and that the applicant will pay the balance of the cost from other funds available to it. SECTION 4. That the proposed improvements are in accordance with the 1967 Comprehensive Plan for the Paducah Water Works and the 1969 Comprehensive Study of the Paducah Water Works Water Treatment Facilities, Federal Project No. P -KY -3124. SECTION 5. That the Department of Housing and Urban Development be assured of full compliance by the applicant with regulations of the Department of Housing and Urban Development affecting: 1195 a. The Federal Labor Standards, and b. The Federal requirements relating to equal employment opportunity. SECTION G. That this resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its adoption.
