HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances Book 17, Page 1126, Ordinance Number 72-8-688ORDINANCE NO. 72-8-688 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 17-74 "BUILDING TRADES" AND SECTION 17-79(i) "CONTRACTS AND BUILDERS", OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. That Section 17-74 "Building Trades" of the Code of Ordinances City of Paducah, Kentucky, be amended and reordained so that said section as amended and reordained shall hereafter read as follows: "Sec. 17-74.' Building trades. Any person working independently and not employed by a licensed contractor or builder, who erects, constructs, alters, wrecks, razes, moves, paints, improves or repairs any building or structure or part thereof, either on the interior or exterior or both, or who engages in any kind of construction or building project, and is paid on an hourly, daily, or other time period basis, or on a piecework basis, or on any other basis except a flat sum or commission basis under contract, shall pay a license tax under Schedule D of section 17-59; provided, however, that the minimum annual license tax of such a person shall be thirty-one dollars and twenty-five cents ($31.25). No person to be licensed for the building trade of electrician or any other trade for which a license for qualification is otherwise required by the City of Paducah or Commonwealth of Kentucky, shall be issued an occupational license until the applicant has displayed to the City Treasurer or business license inspector a valid license or certificate indicating that the tradesman is qualified to perform the type work for which the licebse is sought. All building trades licenses shall indicate on the license the type trades for which the license is issued. SECTION 2. That Sub -section (i) of Section 17-79 Contracts and Builders, of the Code of Ordinances City of Paducah, Kentucky, be amended and reordained so that said sub -section as amended and re - ordained shall hereafter read as follows: "Section 17-79. Contracts and builders. (i) Nothing in the foregoing exceptions shall eliminate any requirement of obtaining permits or having inspections. All contractors' 1127 and builders' licenses shall state the type of work to be performed whether general or specific, and if specific the exact type, and any contractor or builder applying for a license to perform work in any trade for which licenses or certificates of qualification are required by the City of Paducah or the Commonwealth of Kentucky, such as electrical or plumbing, shell display to the City Treasurer or business license inspector a valid license or a certificate of qualifica- tion before being issued any occupational license under this section." SECTION 3. Section 1 amends Section 32 of an ordinance dated December 20, 1966 and Section 2 amends Section 31 of the same ordinance which section was last amended by Section 1 of Ordinance No. 69-12-276 which was enacted December 19, 1969. SECTION 4. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its adoption.
