HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances Book 17, Page 1123, Ordinance Number 72-8-6861123 ORDINANCE NO. 72-8-686 AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT FOR AMBULANCE SERVICE IN PADUCAH, KENTUCKY, BETWEEN THE CITY OF PADUCAH AND ANGELS OF MERCY, INC., AND PRESCRIBING THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS UPON WHICH SUCH CONTRACT SHALL BE MADE BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. That the City Manager be, and he is hereby authorized to execute, on behalf of the City of Paducah, a contract to provide for ambulance service in the City of Paducah, Kentucky, between the City and Angels of Mercy, Inc., said contract to contain the following provisions: (a) The contract shall be for the period of September 1, 1972 through December 31, 1973; (b) The Angels of Mercy, Inc. shall comply with all ordinances of the City of Paducah and all laws of the Commonwealth of Kentucky; (c) All employees of Angels of Mercy, Inc. who shall serve as an ambulance driver or attendant shall possess currently valid American Red Cross Standard and Advanced Training Certifications and shall be at least twenty years of age; (d) All vehicles used for operation of the service shall be not more than five years old and shall be equipped with such equipment as may currently be listed on the minimum equipment list of the Committee on Trauma of the American College of Surgeons and such other equipment as may be required by ordinances of the City of Paducah; (e) At least two trained persons, one driver and one attendant, shall be carried on each ambulance for each ambulance call which is covered by the contract; (f) The service to be rendered for the consideration hereafter named shall be to respond to all official calls regarding accidents on all highways, roads, streets and other such ways for vehicular traffic within the City of Paducah, Kentucky; (g) The consideration to be paid by the City for such service, shall be as follows: 1124 $400.00 per month for the months of September, October, November and December of 1972, $1,200.00 for the month of January 1973, and $800.00 per month thereafter during the term of this contract. All payments shall be made by the 10th of each month in which the payment is due. (h) The contract shall contain an option for the City to renew the contract for an additional two year period with annual payments of $10,000.00 each for the years 1974 and 1975, which payments shall thereafter be made in the same manner as payments have been prescribed for the year 1973. (i) In the event the County of McCracken authorizes a comparable contract with Angels of Mercy, Inc. for services in McCracken County outside the City of Paducah, the contract may be executed as a joint contract between the City of Paducah, the County of McCracken and Angels of Mercy, Inc. SECTION 2. The Board hereby finds that an emergency exists and this ordinance shall therefore be introduced and read and remain on file for one week in the completed form in which it shall be put upon its final passage, and if adopted shall be in full force and effect immediately thereafter.
