HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances Book 17, Page 1080, No Resolution Number1080; A RESOLUTION APPROVING AND PROVIDING FOR THE EXECUTION OF A PROPOSED CONTRACT FOR A GRANT TO DEVELOP LAND FOR OPEN SPACE LAND PURPOSES, PROJECT NO. KY -1017 -OS, BY AND BETWEEN THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY AND THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA WHEREAS, the United States of Anerica (herein called the "Government") has tendered to the City of Paducah, Kentucky (herein called the "Public Body") a contract for grant to develop land for open space land purposes, under which contract the Government would make a grant of Federal funds to the Public Body to aid in financing the cost of certain improvements in a grneral range of beautification activities along the river front, and in and around the city parks, and in and around the public library and downtown civic center complex, said project having been designated Ptoject No. Ky. 1017 -OS; and WHEREAS, the Public Body has given due consideration to said proposed contract, NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. That the proposed contract for grant to develop land for open space land purposes, designated Project No. KY -1017 -OS, consisting of Parts I and II, under and subject to the terms and conditions with the Government would make a grant of Federal Funds to the Public Body to aid in financing the cost of a general range of beautification activities along the river front, in and around the city parks and in and around the public library and downtown civic center complex, is hereby in all respects approved. SECTION 2. The Mayor is hereby authorized and directed to execute said proposed contract in two counterparts on behalf of the Public Body, and the City Clerk is hereby authorized to impress and sttest the official seal of the Public Body on each such counterpart, and to forward such counterparts to the Department of Housing and Urban Development for execution on behalf of the Government, together with such other documents relative to the approval and execution thereof as well as to this resolution as may be required by the Government. SECTION 3. The City Manager is hereby authorized to file requisitions, together with necessary supporting documents, with the Government, from time to time requesting payment to be made on account 1081 of the grant provided for in the said contract, and to do any and all other things and acts required to be done or performed in order to obtain such payments and to carry out the purposes and intent of the contract and the development and beautification of the open space lands in and around the City of Paducah, Kentucky. SECTION 4. The contract herein approved shall provide that the Government make a grant to the Public Body to assist in carrying out the project, which grant shall be for the lesser of fifty percent of the eligible project cost as sha11 be accomplished in improvements by the Public Body up to a maximum participation of $24,608.00. SECTION 5. The depository for direct deposit of loan and/or grant funds under the said contract shall be the Citizens Bank and Trust Company of Paducah, Kentucky, and the account name shall continue to be the same as for prior urban beautification projects, to -wit: "City of Paducah Urban Beautification Project Account", and the account number is 01-3433-3 and the authorized signatures shall be those of the City Treasurer and the City Manager.
