HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances Book 17, Page 1009, Ordinance Number 72-4-6401009 ORDINANCE NO. 72-4-640 AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE EMPLOYMENT OF ALLEN AND ASSOCIATES, CERTIFIED PUBLIC ACCOUNTANTS, TO MAKE AN AUDIT OF THE ACCOUNTS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH AND ALL CITY OFFICERS FOR THE YEAR 1972 IN CONSIDERATION OF THE PAYMENT TO THEM OF THE SUM OF $5,000.00 WHEREAS, it appearing that the proposal of Allen and Associates, in the sum of $5,000.00 for the preparation of an audit of all accounts of the city of paducah for the year 1972 is fair and reasonable, and WHEREAS, the law requires that an audit be prepared annually, such audit of the accounts of all city officers to be made by qualified public accountants, NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. That Allen and Associates, Certified Public Accountants, be, and they are hereby, employed to make an audit of the accounts and affairs of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, and of all of the accounts of all city officers for the year 1972, in accordance with their proposal, for the price of $5,000.00, and the City Manager is hereby authorized to enter into and sign a contract with said public accountants for the preparation of said audit. Said contract shall provide for the preparation of an audit in compliance with all of the provisions of KRS 92.405, and said auditors will furnish to the City in pamphlet form fifty (50) copies of said audit, one to be published in the official newspaper, and a copy to be available to each voter who may apply for same at the office of the City Manager. Said contract shall also provide for furnishing to the City eight (B) copies of the transcript of the auditors' work sheet, one copy to be furnished to the Mayor, the members of the Board of Commissioners, the City Manager and the City Treasurer. The auditors shall assist the City Manager in establishing procedures for converting various finance problems from manual to data processing procedures, and the auditors shall be required to submit all findings of discrepancies and recommendations for improvements in writing. SECTION 2. This ordinance shall be introduced and remain on file for at least one (1) week for public inspection in the completed 1010 form in which it shall be put upon its final passage, and if adopted shall be in full force and effect ten (10) days thereafter.
