HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances Book 16, Page 977, No Resolution Number977 A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE CITY MANAGER TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR THE PURCHASE OF THE CITY'S REQUIREMENT OF LIMESTONE FOR THE YEAR 1969 (APPROXIMATELY 8,000 TONS) TO BE USED IN STREET CONSTRUCTION WORK BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. That the City Manager be, and he is hereby, authorized to advertise for bids for the City's requirement of limestone for the year 1969 (approximately 8,000 tons). Bid price to be f.o.b. to any destination in the city limits of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, as specified by the Director of Public Works. The limestone is to be delivered as ordered, by collect telephone call to the successful bidder or bidders, in 100 ton lots or more and the successful bidder is to guarantee to start delivery within twenty-four hours after notification and continue until the required amount has been delivered. The limestone must meet specifications known and listed as Kentucky State Highway Specifications for No. 7, No, 8, No, 9 and No. 11 limestone. The successful bidder may be required to furnish representative samples of any and all items and all weights of delivered material must be certified fron some accurate scales in or near the City of Paducah at the expense of the successful bidder. All bids shall provide a guarantee against advance in market price and shall guarantee a reduction in price in the event of a decrease in market price. The successful bidder shall post a performance bond in the sum of $1,000.00 guaranteeing specifications and delivery. The City reserves the right to reject any and all bids and to accept the lowest and best bid. SECTION 2. The City Manager shall advertise for sealed bids by posting a notice at the City Hall door and by inserting notice of the re- quest for bids in the Sun Democrat to be published not less than seven (7) days nor more than twenty-one (21) days before the date fixed for the opening of bids. All bids shall be sealed and no bid shall be received after the hour fixed in the notice for the opening of same. All bids received by the City Manager up to the time fixed in the notice for the opening of same shall be filed with the Board of Commissioners who may let a contract to the lowest and best bidder, and the Board of Com- missioners shall reserve the right to reject any and all bids and the 978 City shall not become legally obligated to any bidder until the adoption of an ordinance authorizing the execution.of the purchase contract.
