HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances Book 16, Page 971, No Resolution Number971 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR A CRAWLER LOADER FOR USE BY THE PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. That the City Manager be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to advertise for bids for the sale to the City of Paducah, Kentucky, for one (1) crawler loader for use by the Public Works Depart- ment having the following minimum specifications: ENGINE: Diesel, 105 H.P., 6 cylinders, 15 to 1 compression ratio, 24 volt electric starting system, dry type air cleaner, renewable cartridge oil filter, positive pressure lubrication and pressurized pump cooling system. POWER TRAIN: Transmission, constant mesh; power shift with high -low range selector; STEERING: Power turns, gradual turns, standard brake turns or counter rotation turns. BRAKES: Heavy duty hydraulic actuated disc brakes controlled by two foot pedals which neutralize power drive. Hand operated parking brake. CHASSIS CONSTRUCTION: Independent load -carrying main frame of solid steel with torque tube, tie rod and solid steel pivot axle. TRACK ASSEMBLY: Heavy steel frames. All moving parts to be deep hardened for high resistance. Adjustable tapered roller bearings permanently lubricated. Gauge, 60 inches; shoes, 15 inch semi -grousers, closed; shoes per track 40, and area on ground 2468 sq. in. SUSPENSION SYSTEM: To allow each track to oscillate up and down for smooth ride and traction. TRACTOR OPERATING DATA: Draw -bar pull, in pounds: 1st 39,900, 2nd 22,200, 3rd 18,700 and 4th 10,200. -> LOADER HYDRAULIC SYSTEM: Cylinders shall be double acting with hardened and chrome -plated rods to resist damage, increase strength and resist corrosion. LOADER OPERATING DATA: Bucket capacity, 1-3/4 cu. yds.; break-out force, 10,800 pounds; lift capacity, 6,540 pounds; dump clearance at maximum height with 450 dump, 8 feet 2 inches; dump clearance at maximum height using clam, 11 feet 6 inches; bucket rollback at ground level or 18 inch carry height, 410; digging depth below ground, with 972 flat bucket, 12k inches, with bucket at 40 angle, LSk inches; and, type loader, multi=purpose for clam, load, doze, scrape. Standage equipment should include shielded track, heavy duty loader and rear counterweight; power shift, power shuttle transmission with neutral safety lock; muffler; deflector on exhaust stack; parking brake, heavy duty grille; pusher fan; anti -sand blast radiator; anti- freeze solution to -200 F.; voltage regulator; light switch; dual headlamps (shock mounted) swivel mounted rear working light (shock mounted); instrument panel light, foot and hand throttles; weather resistant, unholstered seat (adjustable fore and aft), arm rest and back rest; tool box tray with tools; crankcase guard; rock guards for track, and drive shaft and undercarriage guard; hourmeter; torque converter temperature gauge and oil pressure gauge; transmission oil pressure gauge and engine oil pressure gauge; engine heat indicator gauge; ammeter; fuel pressure gauge; tachometer; screen for fuel tank filler neck; step plates; sight level gauge for bucket, and side shields for engine. Each bidder shall state the amount he will accept in cash for the purchase of the tractor he offers for sale, and all bidders must include all applicable taxes. SECTION 2. The City Manager'shall advertise for sealed bids by posting a notice at the City Hall door and by inserting notice of the request for bids in the Sun -Democrat not less than seven days nor more than twenty-one days before the opening of same. All bids shall be sealed and no bid shall be received after the hour fixed in the notice for the opening of same. All bids received by the City Manager up to the time fixed for the opening of same shall be filed with the Board of Commissioners who may let a contract to the lowest and best bidder and the Board of Commissioners shall reserve the right to reject any and all bids and the City shall not become legally obligated to purchase same until the adoption of an ordinance authorizing the execution of a purchase contract.
