HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances Book 16, Page 929, No Resolution NumberA RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR THE PURCHASE OF THREE (3) NEW 1969 FOUR -DOOR SEDAN AUTOMOBILES FOR USE IN THE POLICE DEPARTMENT, AND PRESCRIBING THE CONDITIONS UPON WHICH SUCH PURCHASE SHALL BE MADE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. That the City Manager be, and he is hereby, requested to advertise for bids for the sale to the City of Paducah, Kentucky, of three (3) new 1969 four -door sedan automobiles having the following specifications: Minimum wheel base of 119" 15 inch wheels Full 4 -ply tires (no 2 -ply with 4 -ply rating) Power steering Air conditioning, factory installed Police package to be described in detail, to include a heavy-duty alternator with a minimum 65 ampere, with dual pulley and belts Seat belts, with automatic rollers for each Minimum 300 housepower engine Color: Black body with white top and white front doors Heavy duty automatic transmission Heater and defroster Standard equipment to be described fully Spotlight furnished by the City, to be installed by the successful bidder Dual sun visors Back-up lights Spare tire and wheel The wiring in the overhead and through the windshield post, for the red light on top of vehicle, shall be .a installed at factory. Metal reinforcement plate, for reinforcement of redlight mounting, shall be installed at factory. Each bidder shall state the amount he will accept in cash for the purchase of three (3) vehicles specified above, and also the amount for such purchase price to be allowed by accepting as trade-in three (3) police cars, namely, Car No. 2, Car No. 4, and Car No. 6, less any sirens, radios and police red lights on the vehicles to be traded. Each bidder shall state in his bid the popular name and model upon which he bids, and if requested, will exhibit at the City Hall to the 930 City Officials a similar car of the model bid upon with the equipment offered, and shall also state the approximate length of time required for delivery after a contract is awarded. SECTION 2. The City Manager shall advertise for sealed bids by posting a notice at the City Hall door and by inserting notice of the request for bids in the Paducah Sun -Democrat to be published not less than seven days nor more than twenty-one days before the date fixed for the opening of bids. All bids shall be sealed and no bid shall be received after the hour fixed in the notice for the opening of same. All bids received by the City Manager up to the time fixed in the notice for the opening of same shall be filed with the Board of Commissioners who may let a contract to the lowest and best bidder, and the Board of Commissioners shall reserve the right to reject any and all bids, and the City shall not become legally obligated to any bidder until the adoption of an ordinance authorizing the execution of a purchase contract. SECTION 3. This resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its adoption.
