COUNCIL, INC. AS THE COMMUNITY ACTION AGENCY FOR THE OFFICE OF ECONOMIC
OPPORTUNITY IN CALLOWAY, GRAVES, MARSHALL AND MCCRACKEN COUNTIES
WHEREAS, the Purchase Area Economic Opportunity Council, Inc.
with headquarters at the West Kentucky Vocational School, Paducah,
Kentucky, is being defunded by the office of Economic Opportunity, and
WHEREAS, the purpose of the Purchase Area Economic Opportunity
Council, Inc. is to assist, aid and encourage low income people through
various programs of self help and by providing jobs and training, and
WHEREAS, it is necessary that public hearings be held in each
of the counties comprising the Purchase Area Economic Opportunity
Council, Inc., and
WHEREAS, it is necessary for governmental units to authorize
the designation of the Purchase Area Economic Opportunity Council, Inc.
as the "Agency" to which the Office of Economic Opportunity is to
administer certain Federal funds and programs in this area,
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. That the Purchase Area Economic Opportunity Council,
Inc. be designated as the community action agency for administering
programs and funds from the Office of Economic Opportunity in the four
county area of Calloway, Graves, Marshall and McCracken Counties in
the State of Kentucky.
SECTION 2. That the County Judges in each of the four said
counties be encouraged to conduct a public meeting for the purpose of
designating the Purchase Area Economic Opportunity Council, Inc. as
the community action agency in their respective counties.
SECTION 3. This resolution shall be in full force and effect
from and after its adoption/
