HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances Book 16, Page 904, Ordinance Number 69-2-178904 Ff ORDINANCE NO. 69-2-178 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 6.1 OF THE MANUAL OF PROCEDURE OF THE POLICE DEPARTMENT OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. That Section 6.1 of the Manual of Procedure of the Police Department of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, which manual was adopted May 23, 1967, by an ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE ADOPTING BY REFERENCE THE MANUAL OF PROCEDURE OF THE POLICE DEPART- i) MENT OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY", be, and the same is hereby amended to read as follows: 6.1 Recruitment of Paducah Police Department Personnel. i6! iy Make known the Department's personnel needs by the use of the various means of news media, such as newspapers, radio, television, posters, etc. n_Jt S A. List the title of the job (Recruit Police Officer). VV B. Specify the number of men needed. C. Specify the minimum requirements that must be met by the applicant. They are: 1. Must be of male sex. 2. Must be not less than 21 years of age and not more than 40 years of age. 3. Must become a resident of the city, by moving inside the city limits of Paducah, within fourteen (14) days after being notified of his employment as a police officer for the city. An applicant may live outside of the city limits of Paducah at the time he files his application and participates in the examinations. 4. Must become a qualified voter of the City of Paducah, must be an orderly and law-abiding citizen. 5. Must be of good moral character, sobriety and (N integrity. 6. Must successfully stand and pass an A-1 physical examination by a physician designated by the City Manager. 7. Must furnish satisfactory references from at least five (5) reputable citizens of the City of Paducah. 8. Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language, and must be a graduate from a recognized high school, or have received a G.E.D. Certificate. 9. Must possess such other minimum qualifications as may be required by applicable statutes of the Commonwealth of Kentucky. D. Specify where applications may be obtained and to where they are to be returned upon completion. 1. Applications may be obtained from the office of the City Manager on the second floor of the New City Hall. 2. Applications are to be delivered to the Chief of Police or the Executive Officer of the Police Depart- ment upon their completion. IrAA 3. Applications must be complete before being accepted for consideration. 4. If an insufficient number of applications, which meet all minimum requirements for employment, are received, a second announcement for same shall be made at the discretion of the Chief of Police and/or the Executive Officer." SECTION 2. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its adoption.
