HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances Book 16, Page 86, No Ordinance NumberAN ORDINANCE PROWSING ANNEXATION OF CERTAIN PROPERTY LYING ADJACENT TO THE NORTH CORPORATE LIMITS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY, DEFINING ACCURATELY THE BOUNDARY OF THE TERRITORY PROPOSED TO BE ANNEXED, AND DECLARING THE DESIRABILITY AND NECESSITY OF SUCH ANNEXATION BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. It is hereby proposed that certain land lying adjacent to the north corporate limits, more particularly described hereinafter, be annexed to the City of Paducah and that said property so proposed to be annexed is accurately described as follows: Beginning at a point in the present city limits line where the west line of a 36 foot lane entrance into Nelson Park inter- sects the north line of the Hinkleville Road (US 60); thence in a northerly direction and with said city limits line and the west line of said 36 foot lane, 1901 feet more or less to the south line of Nelson Park; thence in a westerly direction with the city limits line and with the south line of Nelson Park a distance of 1399 feet more or less to the southwest corner of Nelson Park and the northwest corner of property owned by S. G. Hobbs and A. A. LaFont; thence in a southwesterly direction with Hobbs and LaFont's west line 1224 frrt more or less to an angle in said west line; thence in a southerly direction and continuing with Hobbs and LaFont's west line 1361 feet more or less to the present city limits line in the north line of the Hinkleville Road; thence in an easterly direction with the city limits line and the north line of the Hinkleville Road 1703 feet more or less to the point of beginning. SECTION 2. It is hereby declared that extending the boundary of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, by annexing the property described in Section 1 hereof is desirable and necessary. SECTION 3. This ordinance shall be published in the Sun -Democrat, a newspaper in Paducah, Kentucky, as provided for and required by Section 424.130 of Kentucky Revised Statutes, and the extension of the City Limits as herein proposed shall not become effective until the adoption of an ordinance annexing: the property described in Section 1 hereof, and such ordinance shall not be adopted until after publication of this ordinance as provided herein and until the expiration of a period of thirty days after the enactment of this ordinance. Notice is hereby Riven -under the provisions of Section 21.110 of Kentucky Revised Statutes that one or more residents or freeholders of the herein territory proposed to be annexed may, within thirty days after the enactment of this ordinance, file a petition in the Circuit Court of McCracken County, Kentucky, setting forth the reason why said territory, or any part of it, shall not be annexed. SECTION L.
