A RESOLUTION APPROVING PROPOSED IMPROVEMENTS AND REPAIRS AT
BARKLEY FIELD, AND AUTHORIZING AN ANNUAL APPROPRIATION TO PAY FOR SAID
IMPROVEMENTS AND MAINTENANCE
WHEREAS to provide necessary and proper facilities for air
transportation in Paducah and McCracken County, it is necessary to
improve the facilities at Barkley Field by acquiring additional land,
extending the runways and constructing a taxi strip, which improvements
can be accomplished by a twenty-five percent local contribution, and
WHEREAS it is necessary to make extensive repairs by replacing
all expansion joints in the existing runways at Barkley Field, which
is the sole responsibility of the local authority, and
WHEREAS it is necessary that the local airport authority borrow
the sum of $200,000.00 to finance its portion of the cost of said
improvements and maintenance, and
WHEREAS local banks have agreed to provide the needed funds,
if the City and County Governments each resolve to appropriate $10,000.00
annually until the indebtedness is paid, and
WHEREAS the Fiscal Court of McCracken County has resolved to
appropriate the needed funds on the condition that the City of Paducah
will also make such an appropriation, and
WHEREAS the Board of Commissioners of the City of Paducah has
concluded that the proposed expenditures are essential, necessary and
in the best interest of the citizens of the City of Paducah, Kentucky,
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF
THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. That to the extent it is possible for this Board
to bind itself for this and future years, it hereby declares its'
intention to make an annual appropriation of $10,000.00 to the Paducah
Airport Corporation for the purpose of repaying a proposed loan of
$200,000.00 to be obtained from local banks for improvements and
maintenance at Barkley Field.
SECTION 2. This resolution and the proposed annual appropriations
are made contingent upon a like annual appropriation being made by the
Fiscal Court of McCracken County, Kentucky, and upon the Paducah Airport
Corporation obtaining a loan from local banking institutions in the
approximate amount of $200,000.00 for the purpose of improving and
maintaining Barkley Field.

SECTION 3. This resolution shall be in full force and effect from
and after its adoption.
