HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances Book 16, Page 693, No Resolution Number693 / A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE CITY MANAGER TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR THE PURCHASE OF ONE (1) NEW 1968 MEDIUM PRICED FOUR DOOR SEDAN AUTOMOBILE FOR USE BY THE CITY MANAGER, AND PRESCRIBING THE CONDITIONS UPON WHICH SUCH PURCHASE SHALL BE MADE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. That the City Manager be, and he is hereby, authorized to advertise for bids for the purchase of one (1) new 1968 medium priced four door sedan automobile for use by the City Manager, said automobile to have the following minimum specifications: Standard equipment, to be described completely by each bidder; V-8 engine with minimum of 220 horsepower; automatic transmission; minimum wheel base of 119 inches; power brakes and steering; heater, and vinyl upholstry. The color shall be solid and is to be selected at the time a bid is accepted. Any bid for a Chevrolet, Ford, Plymouth or competitive line shall be nothing less than the Impala, Galaxie or Fury III models. Each bidder shall state the amount he will accept in cash for the purchase price of the automobile he offers for sale, and also the amount of such purchase price to be allowed by accepting as trade-in a 1961 Falcon Four -door Sedan, Serial No. 1K12 U 103221, and said vehicle may be inspected on request at City Hall. Each bidder shall state in his bid the popular name and model upon which he bids, and if requested will exhibit at the City Hall to the City Officials a similar car of the model bid upon with the equipment offered, and each bid must state the length of time required for delivery after a contract is awarded. SECTION 2. The City Manager shall advertise for sealed bids by posting a notice at the City Hall door and by inserting notice of the request for bids in the Paducah Sun -Democrat to be published not less than seven days nor more than twenty-one days before the date fixed for the opening of bids. All bids shall be sealed and no bid shall be received after the hour fixed in the notice for the opening of same. All bids received by the City Manager up to the time fixed in the notice for the opening of same shall be filed with the Board of Commissioners who may let a contract to the lowest and 694 best bidder, and the Board shall reserve the right to reject any and all bids and the City shall not become legally obligated to any bidder until the adoption of an ordinance authorizing the execution of a purchase contract. SECTION 3. This resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its adoption.
