HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances Book 16, Page 535, Ordinance Number 68-3-38535 ORDINANCE NO. 68-3-3f, AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 8-B OF THE APPOINTIVE EMPLOYEES' CIVIL SERVICE ORDINANCE, WHICH WAS ADOPTED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS ON DECEMBER 2, 1947 AND RECORDED IN ORDINANCE BOOK 11, PAGE 249, AND AMENDED FROM TIME TO TIME, THE LAST AMENDMENT BEING ON JANUARY 10, 1967 AND RECORDED IN ORDINANCE BOOK 16, PAGE 15 BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. That Section 8-B of the Appointive Employee's Civil Service Ordinance which was adopted by the Board of Commissioners on December 2, 1947 and recorded in Ordinance Book 11, page 249, and amended from time to time, the last amendment being on January 10, 1967 and recorded in Ordinance Book 16, page 15, be further amended and reordained so that said section as anended and reordained shall read as follows: "SECTION 8-B. There is hereby authorized and created the fol- lowing positions in the Public Works Department, heretofore known as the Street Department, and the salaries of each position, provided the amount of such salary is not changed under any apportionment ordinance hereafter adopted shall be as follows: Position Base Salary Per Month This department shall be under the direction and supervision of the Director of Public Works, a non -civil service position which "as heretofore been created by separate ordinance. Assistant Director of Public works $590.00 Chief Foreman of Streets & Sewers (formerly Assistant Superintendent of streets and sewers) 590.00 Foreman (3 positions) 465.00 Secretary 290.00 Base Hourly Rate Sewer Maintenance Man (6 positions) 2.18 Equipment Operator (6 positions) 2.38 Street Repairman (6 positions) 2.08 Truck Driver (8 positions) 1.98 Laborer (3 positions) 1.75 Chief Mechanic 2.48 536 Auto Repairman $2.38 Mechanic Helper 2.18 Concrete Finisher (2 positions) 2.48 The Secretary shall be paid at the rate of $290.00 per month for the first six months of employment; at the expiration of six months $300.00 per month; at the expiration of one year $310.00 per month; and at the expiration of two years $320.00 per month, such increases to be made upon recommendation of the City Manager. Sewer Maintenance Men shall be paid at the rate of $2.18 per hour for the first six months of employment and at the expiration Of six months the rate of pay shall be $2.23 per hour, such increase to be made upon recommendation of the City Manager. The Equipment Operator shall be paid at the rate of $2.38 per hour for the first six months of employment and at the expiration Of six months the rate of pay shall be $2.43 per hour, such increase to be made upon recommendation of the City Manager. The Street Repairman shall be paid at the rate of $2.08 per hour for the first six months of employment and at the expiration of six months the rate of pay shall be $2.13 per hour, such increase to be made upon recommendation of the City Manager. The Truck k Driver shall be paid at the rate of $1.98 per hour for the first six months of employment and at the expiration of six months the rate of pay shall be increased to $2.03 per hour, such increase to be made upon recommendation of the City Manager. The Laborers shall be paid at the rate of $1.75 per hour for the first six months of employment; at the expiration of six months $1.80 per hour; at the expiration of one year $1.85 per hour, and at the expiration of two years $1.90 per hour, such increases to be made upon recommendation of the City Manager. The Chief Mechanic shall be paid at the rate of $2.48 per hour for the first six months of employment and at the expiration of six months the rate of pay shall be increased to $2.53 per hour, such increase to be made upon recommendation of the City Manager. The Auto Repairman shall be paid at the rate of $2.38 per hour for the first six months of employment, and at the expiration of six months the rate of pay shall be increased to $2.43 per hour, 537 such increase to be made upon recommendation of the City Manager. The Mechanic Helper shall be paid at the rate of $2.18 per hour for the first six months of employment and at the expiration of six months the rate of pay shall be increased to $2.23 per hour, such increase to be made upon recommendation of the City Manager. The Concrete Finisher shall be paid at the rate of $2.48 per hour for the first six months of employment and at the expiration of six months the rate of pay shall be increased to $2.53 per hour, such increase to be made upon recommendation of the City Manager. Refuse (Sanitary) Division Base Hourly Rate This Division shall be under the direction of the above mentioned Director of Public Works and the Assistant Director of Public Works. Collectors (22 positions) $1.75 Truck Drivers (11 positions) 1.98 Tire Repairman ( 1 position) 2.18 Equipment Operator ( 1 position) 2.38 Mechanic Helper ( 1 position) 2.18 Collectors shall be paid at the rate of $1.75 per hour for the first six months of employment; at the expiration of six months $1.80 per hour; at the expiration of one year $1.85 per hour, and at the expiration of two years $1.90 per hour; such increases to be made upon recommendation of the City Manager. Truck Drivers shall be paid at the rate of $1.98 per hour for the first six months of employment and at the expiration of six months the rate of pay shall be increased to $2.03 per hour, such increase to be made upon recommendation of the City Manager. The Tire Repairman shall be paid at the rate of $2.18 per hour for the first six months of employment and at the expiration of six months the rate of pay shall be increased to $2.23 per hour, such increase to be made upon recommendation of the City Manager. The Equipment Operator shall be paid at the rate of $2.38 per hour for the first six months of employment and at the expiration of six months the rate of pay shall be increased to $2.43 per hour, such increase to be made upon recommendation of the City Manager. 538 The Mechanic Helper shall be paid at the rate of $2.18 per hour for the first six months of employment and at the expiration of six months the rate of pay shall be increased to $2.23 per hour, such increase to be made upon recommendation of the City Manager." SECTION 2. All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are, to th extent of such conflict, hereby repealed. SECTION 3. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its adoption and shall be retroactive to March 1, 1968.
