AN ORDINANCE CREATING AND ESTABLISHING A DRIVER'S IMPROVEMENT
SCHOOL
WHEREAS it is the opinion of the Board of Commissioners of the
City of Paducah, Kentucky that traffic safety is a very important
factor in protecting the lives and property of persons in said City
and the environs thereof, and
WHEREAS it is the opinion of said Board that a properly operated
Driver's Improvement School would be a most advantageous and helpful
aid in educating and informing the public as to various safety measures
in the operation of motor vehicles and other matters pertaining to
traffic safety, and
WHEREAS a Driver's Improvement School should be conducted by
the Paducah Police Department in cooperation with the McCracken County
Court, the McCracken County Juvenile Court, the local office of the
Kentucky State Police Driver Licensing Bureau and such other organ-
izations desiring to particupate in the program and deemed beneficial
to the school, such as insurance groups and driver training schools, and
WHEREAS it is the opinion of said Board that such a school would
be beneficial to persons who have been convicted of traffic violations
and
WHEREAS it is the desire of said Board to create and establish
such a school.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF
THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. There is hereby created and established a school
known as a Driver's Improvement School, to be organized, operated and
conducted by the Police Department of the City of Paducah, Kentucky
in the manner and means hereinafter set out.
SECTION 2. The School shall be held at the City Hall under the
the Chief Police or other members of the Police
supervision of of
Department designated by him, who may use the services of police
officers, attorneys, judges, insurance representatives, traffic and
safety experts and engineers or other qualified personnel.
SECTION 3. The Chief of Police, individually or through his
designated representative, is hereby authorized and directed to prepare
a course, recruit and/or train instructors, and to do all things
necessary and proper for the establishment and continuation of the school.

SECTION 4. All persons attending said school, including
volunteers and traffic violators assigned to same by the Judge of
the Police Court shall register with the Chief of Police or his
designated representative.
SECTION 5. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect
from and after its adoption.
