HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances Book 16, Page 21, No Ordinance NumberAN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE APPOINTMENT OF A TRIAL COMMISSIOFER OF THE POLICE COURT, PRESCRIBING HIS QUALIFICATIONS AND DUTIES, AND FIXING HIS COMPENSATION BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. The elected ,judge of the Police Court of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, may, pursuant to the provisions of KRS 26.235, appoint one trial commissioner of said Court. SECTION 2. Such trial commissioner shall have the same qualifi- cations as the elected Judge, shall hold office at the pleasure of the elected iudge and shall not practice any case in Police Court nor any criminal cases in the McCracken Circuit Court. SECTION 3. The duties of such trial commissioner shall be to attend and preside over trials of particular cases when the regular elected ,judge is present but disqualifies himself and vacates the Bench for cause in such particular case, to hear cases in the City of Paducah Police Court Room, and he may sit simultaneously with the elected judge. SECTION 4. The compensation of such trial commissioner for services rendered shall be $75.00 per month, payable at the same time and in the same manner as the salaries of other city officers. SECTION 5. The position of trial commissioner of the police court created by this ordinance shall not be under civil service. SECTION 6. Nothing contained in this ordinance shall be construed so as to limit or impair the power, ri7ht or authority of the Board of Commissioners of the City of Paducah to abolish the position of trial commissioner which is hereby created. SECTION 7. This ordinance shall be in full :force and effect from and after its adoption.
