A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE DIRECTOR OF FISCAL
AFFAIRS TO ESTABLISH AN ACCOUNT FROM FINES AND FORFEITURES FROM THE
PADUCAH POLICE COURT TO BE KNOWN AS "PROBATION OFFICER ACCOUNT" AND
AUTHORIZING THE SAID DIRECTOR TO ADMINISTER SAID ACCOUNT
WHEREAS, Kentucky Revised Statute 439.080 provides that the
City Commission may establish a probation office and assign a police
officer to this duty, and
WHEREAS, the City Commission has declined to establish such an
office, and
WHEREAS, Section 2 of said Statute provides, that if the Commission
does not so act, the Police Court shall appoint a probation officer who
shall be under the control and supervision of the Court and shall be
paid out of fines and forfeitures collected by the Court, and
WHEREAS, the Paducah Police Court has appointed a probation
officer, and
WHEREAS, certain costs will be necessary for salary and expenses
for the office,
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE
CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. That the Director of Fiscal Affairs be, and he hereby
is, directed to establish a special account to be known as the "Probation
Officer Account" from revenue received from the Paducah Police Court
from fines and forfeitures for the purpose of paying salaries and ex-
penses of the probation office or officer.
SECTION 2. That the amount to be apporpriated to this account each
month shall be $400.00, and the Director is authorized to pay from the
account a probation officer's salary to be fixed by the Court, and such
expenses as are verified to the Director by voucher from the Court, and the
maximum expenditure for all salaries and expenses shall not exceed the
amount on hand in the account at any time, nor shall the total amount
exceed the sum of $4,800.00 per year.
SECTION 3. That appropriations shall begin immediately to provide
for the entire month of June, and shall thereafter be made at the beginning
of each month, and the period of accounting for the same account shall
be July 1 to June 30 of the following year.

SECTION 4. In the event this office is terminated by the Court,
any amount then on hand in said account that is not obligated for expenses
already incurred by the probation office shall be removed from the special
account to the general fund.
SECTION 5. This Resolution shall be in full force and effect from
and after its adoption.
