A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE MAYOR TO REQUEST
PRESIDENT NIXON TO APPOINT THE COMMISSION ON FIRE PREVENTION AND
CONTROL
WHEREAS, on March 1, 1968, Congress established a National
Commission on Fire Prevention and Control but has not yet made funds
available for the Commission or for fire prevention and control at
all governmental levels, and
WHEREAS, the House of Representatives and the.Senate Finance
Committee will not consider funding until full membership has been
appointed to the said Commission, and
WHEREAS, the President of the United States has the only power
of appointment of the commissioners,
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. That the Mayor be, and he is hereby, authorized
and directed to write President Richard M. Nixon and urge him to
appoint the commissioners for the Commission on Fire Prevention and
Control, and to send a certified copy of this resolution with said
letter.
SECTION 2. This resolution shall be in full force and effect
from and after its adoption.
