HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances Book 16, Page 1136, Ordinance Number 69-11-2611136 ORDINANCE NO. 69-11-261 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 3 OF AN ORDINANCE ENTITLED "AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE CLASSIFYING AND LICENSING OF VEHICLES PLYING THE STREETS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY, AND PRESCRIBING THE PENALTY FOR THE VIOLATION OF SAID ORDINANCE", WHICH WAS ADOPTED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS ON DECEMBER 30, 1937, AND LAST AMENDED ON MARCH 7, 1967 BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. That Section 3 of an ordinance containing the title quoted above, which was adopted on December 30, 1937 and last amended on March 7, 1967, be further amended and reordained so that said section as amended and reordained shall read as follows: "SECTION 3. The license tax required to be paid hereunder ( is as follows: v�;� Q-LccateccC% Sub -section (a) -- ---- - --- For each motorcycle - - - - - - - - - - - $5.00 '7n,� U Sub -section (b) For each and every passenger vehicle - - - - - - - - - - - - 10.00 Sub -section (c) For each truck operated in the City of Paducah for business or for hire, and for the purpose of raising revenue for exercising regulations over said motor trucks and for policing said city, and regulating the traffic therein and keeping in repair the public ways thereof, there is hereby levied and imposed, and ordered to be collected from all persons, firms or corporations operating said motor trucks or trailers loading or unloading in the City of Paducah, Kentucky, a license tax or privilege license on said trucks and trailers as follows: Gross Vehicle Weight: 0 to 10,000 pounds $10.00 10,000 to 18,000 pounds 13.00 18,000 to 21,000 " 16.00 21,000 to 24,000 19.00 24,000 to 27,000 22.00 27,000 to 32,000 25.00 32,000 to 36,000 28.00 36,000 to 42,000 31.00 42,000 and over 34.00 When trailers are attached to trucks or motor vehicles and used for business, or for hire, in Paducah, the ton capacity or load of such trailer shall be added to the gross vehicle weight of said truck for the purpose of classifying said trucks. I 1137 Sub -section (d) The City Treasurer is authorized, empowered and directed to collect the license tax provided for in Sub -section (a) and (b) of this Section, which tax shall be payable on or before the first day of March in each year. Sub -section (e) The City Treasurer is authorized, empowered and directed to collect the license tax provided for in Sub -section (c) of this Section, which tax shall be payable on or before the first day of April in each year. Sub -section (f) If the license tax required by this Section is not paid before the applicable date as set forth in Sub -sections (d) and (e) of this Section, there shall be added thereto a penalty of $2.00. Sub -section (q) The tax upon any vehicle acquired and operated after the date mentioned in Sub -sections (d) and (e) of this Section, whichever date is applicable, in any calendar year, shall be due and payable at the end of thirty (30) days from the date it was acquired. Sub -section (h) The license certificate or sticker issued by the City Treasurer shall be displayed in the lower right corner of the windshield of the licensed vehicle." SECTION 2. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are, to the extent of such conflict, hereby repealed. SECTION 3.
