HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances Book 16, Page 1103, No Resolution Number1103 A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE COMMONWEALTH OF KENTUCKY DEPARTMENT OF HIGHWAYS TO WIDEN AND IMPROVE U. S. 62 (BLANDVILLE ROAD) FROM LONE OAK ROAD TO PECAN DRIVE IN PADUCAH, KENTUCKY, AND TO CONDUCT A NEW PUBLIC HEARING REGARDING SAME WHEREAS the Commonwealth of Kentucky Department of Highways has discontinued any present effort to improve and widen U. S. 62 (Blandville Road) from Lone Oak Road to Pecan Drive in Paducah, Kentucky, and WHEREAS there is a present need for such improvement for the orderly movement of traffic and for the safety of motorists and pedestrians, and WHEREAS the process of planning, hearing, designing and constructing highways is very lengthy, and WHEREAS the improvements are needed before completion of Interstate Highway 24 and the development process cannot be delayed until after completion of I 24 as is now planned. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. That this Board make every effort to encourage and urge the Commonwealth of Kentucky Department of Highways to begin planning the necessary improvements for U. S. 62 (Blandville Road) from Lone Oak Road to Pecan Drive in Paducah, Kentucky, and to conduct public hearings at the earliest possible date. SECTION 2. That a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Commissioner of Highways, Commonwealth of Kentucky, Frankfort, Kentucky, and to the First District Engineer, Department of Highways, Paducah, Kentucky.
