HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances Book 16, Page 1091, Ordinance Number 69-8-2441 ORDINANCE NO. 69-8-244 AN ORDINANCE PROPOSING ANNEXATION OF CERTAIN PROPERTY LYING ADJACENT TO THE NORTHWEST CORPORATE LIMITS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY, DEFINING ACCURATELY THE BOUNDARY OF THE TERRITORY PROPOSED TO BE ANNEXED, AND DECLARING THE DESIRABILITY AND NECESSITY OF SUCH ANNEXATION BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. It is hereby proposed that certain land lying adjacent to the northwest corporate limits, more particularly described herein- after, be annexed to the City of Paducah, and that said property so proposed to be annexed is accurately described as follows: Beginning at a point on the north right-of-way line of the earth levee floodwall, said point being at the existing city limits boundary in the vicinity of what would be the 2200 block of North 6th Street, if extended; thence in a westerly direction and following the north right-of-way line of said floodwall to a point where said floodwall would intersect with a point 10.04 feet east of and parallel with the west property line of Helen Street, if extended; thence southerly along a line 10.04 feet east of and parallel with the west line of Helen Street, if extended 630 feet, more or less, to a point 150 feet south of 8th Street; thence westerly and parallel with 8th Street 50 feet; thence in a southerly direction and parallel with and 400 feet from the west line of Estelle Street 726.28 feet to the north property line of St. Louis Avenue; thence westerly with the north property line of St. Louis Avenue, and St. Louis Avenue, if extended, 514 feet, more or less, to the southwest corner of a lot belonging to C. A. Rottgering and wife, by deed recorded in Deed Book 463, page 565, McCracken County Court Clerk's office' thence in a northerly direction with Rottgering's west line 196 feet, more or less, to the northerly .line of property belonging to King -Woodall, Inc. by deed recorded in Deed Book 480, page 273, McCracken County Court Clerk's office; thence in a westerly direction with King -Woodall, Inc. north line 295 feet, more or less, to the west right-of-way line of the floodwall; thence in a southerly direction with said west line of the floodwall 752 feet to the north right-of-way line of the C. St. L. & N.O. Railroad Co.; thence in a westerly direction with said railroad right of way 43.93 feet to a point in the westerly right-fo-way line of the floodwall; thence with the floodwall right- of=way, crossing the railroad right-of-way, in a southerly direction 109.82 feet to the southerly right-of-way line of the C. St. L. & N.O.Railroad Company; thence in a southerly direction approximately 375 feet to a point 10 feet south of the south property line of the Cairo Road and in the west right-of-way line of the floodwall; thence in a southerly direction along the meanders of the west right-of-way line of said floodwall to the point of intersection with the existing city limit line at a point approximately 1,100 feet north of the Hinkleville Road, Park Avenue or U. S. Highway 60; thence beginning in an easterly direction and following the existing city limit line back to the point of beginning. SECTION 2. It is hereby declared that extending the boundary of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, by annexing the property described in Section 1 hereof is desirable and necessary. 1091 c 1092 SECTION 3. This ordinance shall be published in the Sun -Democrat, a newspaper in Paducah, Kentucky, as provided for and required by Section 424.130 of Kentucky Revised Statutes, and the extension of the city limits as herein proposed shall not become effective until the adoption of an ordinance annexing the property described in Section 1 hereof, and such ordinance shall not be adopted until after publication of this ordinance as provided herein and until the expiration of a period of thirty days after the enactment of this ordinance. Notice is hereby given under the provisions of Section 81.110 of Kentucky Revised Statutes that one or more residents or freeholders of the herein territory proposed to be annexed may, within thirty days after the enactment of this ordinance, file a petition in the circuit Court of McCracken County, Kentucky, setting forth the reason why said territory, or any part of it, shall not be annexed. SECTION 4. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its adoption.
