FOR CONSTRUCTING SITE IMPROVEMENTS IN THE OAKLAWN CODE ENFORCEMENT AREA OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY, AND AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF THE OAKLAWN NEIGHBORHOOD IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM TO ENTER INTO A CONTRACT FOR SUCH IMPROVEMENTS WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners of the City of Paducah has heretofore entered into a grant agreement with the'United States of America for participation in public improvements within the Oaklawn Code Enforcement Area as described in Contract KY E-1, and WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners of the City of Paducah has heretofore authorized the director of the code enforcement program to enter into a contract for engineering services with Edward T. Hannan & Associates, Inc., Consulting Engineers, and WHEREAS, under the supervision of said engineers and the project director, bids were requested for opening on May 22, 1969, at 2 p.m. and said bids were advertised for as required by law on May -2 and May 12, 1969, and WHEREAS, bids were properly received and have been tabulated by the Consulting Engineers with the recommendation that the bid be awarded to the lowest and best bidder, Littleton, Inc. of Paducah, Kentucky, NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. That the City of Paducah, Kentucky, accept the bid of Littleton, Inc. for site improvement work in the Oaklawn Code Enforcement Area as described in the contract between the City of Paducah, Kentucky and the United States of America, Contract No. E-1, which bid is in the total sum of $497,885.10, of which amount the City of Paducah will be obligated to pay $157,178.09 including ineligible cost for Federal participation, said acceptance being subject to the concurring approval of the bid and contractor by the Department of Housing and Urban Development, United States of America. Said improvements shall be constructed according to the plans and specifications contained in the bid proposals and under the supervision of the said consulting engineers. 1030 SECTION 2. That the Executive Director of the Oaklawn Neighbor- hood Improvement Project be, and she is hereby, authorized to enter into and execute a contract for the said site improvement work for and on behalf of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, after first obtaining a perform- ance bond from yhe contractor and after obtaining from the contractor a liability insurance policy protecting the City from any claim of parsons or property of persons as may be required by the Department of Housing a nd Urban Development and thebidproposals. SECTION 3. That the City of Paducah ratify and confirm the action of the Executive Director and -the Consulting Engineer in requesting bids for the site improvement work without prior authorization by this Board for such request. SECTION 4. That the proposed subcontractors of Littleton, Inc., West Kentucky Paving Company for asphalt work and Lane-& Morrison Masonty Contractors for masonry work, be, and they are hereby, approved along with the acceptance of the low bid of Littleton, Inc. SECTION 5. This ordinance shall be introduced at a meeting of the Board of Commissioners and remain on file for at least one (1) week for public inspection in the completed form in which it shall be put upon its final passage, and if adopted shall be in full force and effect ten (10) days thereafter.
