HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances Book 15, Page 820, No Ordinance NumberAN ORDINANCE PROPOSING ANNEXATION OF CERTAIN PROPERTY LYING ADJACENT TO THE NORTHWEST CORPORATE LIMITS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY, DEFINING ACCURATELY THE BOUNDARY OF THE TERRITORY PROPOSED TO BE ANNEXED, AND DECLARING THE DESIRABILITY AND NECESSITY OF SUCH ANNEXATION BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. It is hereby proposed that certain territory lying ad to the northwest corporate limits of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, more par- ticularly described hereinafter, be annexed to said city, and that said prope so proposed to be annexed is accurately described as follows: Beginning at a concrete monument in the southerly right-of-way line of Maple Avenue (North 12th Street Extended) and the easterly line of Maplewood Terrace Subdivision, said monument being in the westerly city limit line; thence along the southerly right-of,way line of Maple Avenue (North 12th Street Extended) a distance of 360.04' to a point, said point being the intersection of the southerly right- of-way line of Maple Avenue (North 12th Street Extended) and the westerly right-of-way line of the Beltline Highway (Julia Street); thence along the westerly right-of-way line of the Beltline Highway (Julia Street) a distance of 773.72' to a point, said point being the intersection of the westerly right-of-way line of the Belt - line Highway (Julia Street) and the northerly right-of-way line of North 10th Street (St. Louis Avenue); thence alone_ the northerly right - of -Way line of North 10th Street (St. Louis Avenue) a distance of 360.04.' to,a concrete monument, said concrete monument being in the existing westerly city limit line; thence in a southerly direction along the existing westerly city limit line and the easterly line of Maple- wood Terrace Subdivision.a distance of 773.72' to the point of beginning. SECTION 2. It is hereby declared that extending the boundary of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, by annexing the property described in Section 1 hereof is desirable and necessary. SECTION 3. This ordinance shall be published in the Sun -Democrat, a newspaper in Paducah, Kentucky, as provided for and required by Section 424.130 of Kentucky Revised Statutes, and the extension of the city limits as herein proposed shall not become effective until the adoption of an ordinance annexing the property described in Section 1 hereof, and such ordinance shall not be adopted until after publication of this ordinance as provided herein and until the expiration of a period of thirty (30) days after the publication of this ordinance. Notice is hereby given under the provisions of Section $1.110 of Kentucky Revised Statutes, that one or more residents or freeholders of the herein territory proposed to be annexed may, within thirty (30) days after the enactment of this ordinance, file a petition in the Circuit Court of McCracken County, Kentucky, setting forth the reasons why said territory, or any part of it, shall not be annexed.
