HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances Book 15, Page 806, No Ordinance Number8o6 AN ORDINANCE PROPIDIDh FOR THE CREATION AND ESTABLISHMEN1T OF THE DEPAPT1,111T OF PUBLIC SERVICE, AND THE POSITIONS OF DIRECTOR AND ASSISTANT DIRECTOR THEREOF BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COP-111ISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. There is hereby created and established the Department of Public Ser^ice, the purpose and function of said department shall be the coordination, supervision and control of certain municipal activities as follows: a. En,ineerinr- b Floodwall C. Sewage Treatment d. Streets and Seegers e. Refuse f. Traffic System and Parkin* Feters E. City Buildings which- activities are now being handled by the Eneineerinc, Department, the Floodwall and Seware Treatment Department, the Public Works Department and the Maintenance Department, which departments shall continue to function as in the past, but under the coordination, supervision and control of the said Department of Public Service. SECTION 2. There is hereby created the position of Director of Public Service who shall be the head of said department and have charPe and control of same, under the supervision and direction of the City Manager. The salary of said Director shall ',e such as may be fixed by a subsequent ordinance. The City Maraaer shall act as such Director until the position is filled by a motion adopted hy the Board of Commissioners, and shall so act during any and all times there should he a vacancy in said position. SECTION: 3. There is herehv created the position of Assistant Director of Public Service, which position shall he filled ex officio b,T the Floodwall Superintendent, and the duties of said Assistant Director shall be such as may be designated by the City Manager. SECTION 4. The positions established by this ordinance shall not be under civil service, except however, the Floodwall Superintendent, actinr- ex officio as Assistant Director of Public Service, shall keep and retain any and all civil service rig-hts, privi-leves and benefits he noir has as such Floodwall Superintendent. 80'7 SECTION 5.
