AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE CREATION OF A DEPARTMENT OF
PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT, AND PROVIDING FOR THE POSITION OF A DIRECTOR
THEREOF
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY
OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. There is hereby created a Department of Planning
and Development for the City of Paducah, Kentucky, which department
shall have the responsibility for -
1. Building and Electrical Inspections
2. Housing Code enforcement
3. Coordination of the City's Workable Program
G. Current planning activities, including zoning administration
and subdivision control, and such other duties, functions
and responsibilities as may later be delegated by the
Board of Commissioners, or by the City Manager.
SECTION 2. There is hereby created the position of Director of
the Department of Planning and Development, who shall be the head of
said department. The Director shall be appointed by the Board of
Commissioners of the City, and shall be under the direction of and
responsible to the City Manager. The salary of said Director shall be
such as will be established by a subsequent ordinance adopted by the
Board of Commissioners.
SECTION 3. Said department will absorb all of the functions
and personnel of the present City Inspection Department and Housing
Code enforcement, but such positions so absorbed will remain identically
the same as to status, duties and rates of pay.
SECTION 4. That if any section, paragraph or provision of
this Ordinance shall be found to be inoperative, ineffective or
invalid for any cause, the deficiency or invalidity of such section,
paragraph or provision shall not affect any other section, paragraph
or provision hereof, it being the purpose and intent of this ordinance
to make each and every section, paragraph and provision hereof separable
fr6m all other sections, paragraphs and provisions.
SECTION 5. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect
from and after its adoption.
