AN ORDINANCE ACCEPTING THE BID OF DON McCLURG, DOING BUSINESS AS
PADUCAH TYPEWRITER R•. SUPPLY, IN THE AMOUNT OF 11-31,957.34 FOR THE
FURNISHING AND INSTALLATION OF CERTAIN FURNITURE FOR'THE NE77 CITY HALL
BUILDING IN PADUCAH, KENTUCKY, SAID FURNTTURG BEING KNO?'.rm AS "CATEGORY
III ALL OTHER FURNITURE"; DECLARING SAID BID TO BE THE LOWEST RESPONSIBLE
BID RECEI�TGD, AND DECLARING SAID BIDDER TO BE THE LOWEST RESPONSIBLE
BIDDER; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MAIJAGER TO EXECUTE, OF BEHALF OF SAID
CITY, A CONTRACT FOR SUCH FURNISHING AND-INSTALLATIONI, AND PRESCRIBING
THE TERNS AND CONDITIONS OF SUCH CONTRACT
WHEREAS, the City of Paducah, Kentucky, advertised for bids
for the furnishing and installation of furniture for the new City Hall
building in said City, and
WHEREAS., bids were submitted by various bidders for such
furnishing and installation of furniture in accordance with "The plans,
specifications and conditions for same prepared by Edward Durell Stone,
Architect, 7 East 67 Street, New York City (Lee Potter Smith & Associates,
Associate Architects, Paducah, Kentucky), said plans consisting of three
(3) reproduction prints titled 'Furniture Plan Ground Floor', 'Furniture
Plan First Floor' and 'Furniture Plan Second Floor'; and said specifications
and conditions consisting of a bound volume titled "Furniture for Paducah,
City Hall, Paducah, Kentucky, Bidding Specifications, August 28, 1964
(Revised to September G, 1964) consisting of 'General Conditions',
'Specification of Manufacturers, Category I Metal Office Furniture,
Category II Wood Office Furniture, Category III All Other Furniture';
'Specification of Furniture', and also the 'Invitation for Bids' and
'Bid Form Proposal,", and
WHEREAS, Don McClure, doing business as Paducah Typewriter & Supply,
submitted a bid in the amount of $31,957.34 for the furnishing and
installation of certain furniture described in the title hereof, which
bid was not the lowest monetary bid but was the second lowest bid in
dollars and cents, and
WHEREAS, the business office and establishment of the said Don
McClure, doing business as Paducah Typewriter & Supply, is situated
directly across Washington Street from the new City'Hall in said City,
thereby assuring.instant and easy accessibility in the event any adjust-
ments, service or repairs should be needed, while on the other hand the
business office and establishment of the lowest monetary bidder is
situated several hundred miles distant in New York City, and
WHEREAS, the nature and quality of the items bid upon by each of
said bidders are equal, and

WHEREAS, it is the option and decision of the Board of Commissioners
of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, that the bid of said Don McClure, doing
business as Paducah Typewriter & Supply, should be considered and accepted
as the lowest responsible bid received, and that said bidder should be
considered and declared the lowest responsible bidder, all of which is
and will be more in keeping with the best interests of the public,
citizens and taxpayers of Paducah and the needs of said City.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF
THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. That the bid of Don McClure, doing business as Paducah
Typewriter & Supply, in the amount of $31,957.34 for the furnishing and
installation of certain furniture for the new City Hall building in
Paducah, known as "Category III All Other Furniture" be determined to be,
and is, the lowest responsible bid submitted to the City for such furnishing
and installation, and that the said Don McClure, doing business as Paducah
Typewriter & Supply, be determined to be, and is, the lowest responsible
bidder in connection therewith.
SECTION 2.. That the City of Paducah, Kentucky, subject to the
conditions hereinafter set out, accept the bid of Don McClure, doing
business as Paducah Typewriter & Supply of Paducah, Kentucky, in the
amount of $31,957.34 for furnishing and installation of certain furniture
in the new City Hall building in said City known as "Category III All
Other furniture", subject to all the terms, conditions and specifications
contained in the document upon which said bidder based his bid, such
document being known as "Plans, Specifications and Conditions prepared
by Edward Durell Stone, Architect, 7 East 67 Street, New York City,
(Lee Potter Smith & Associates, Associate Architect, Paducah, Kentucky),
saud plans consisting of three (3) reproduction prints titled 'Furniture
Plan Ground Floot', 'Furniture Plan First Floor' and 'Furniture Plan
Second Floot', and said specifications and conditions consisting of a
bound volume titled 'Furniture for Paducah City Hall, Paducah, Kentucky,
Bidding Specifications, August 28, 1964 (Revised to September 4, 1964)
consisting of 'General Conditions', 'Specifications of Manufacturers,
Category I Metal Office Furniture, Category II Wood Office Furniture,
Category III All Other Furniture'; 'Specifications of Furniture', and
also:.the 'Invitation for Bids'and 'Bid Form Proposal"'.
SECTION 3. Acceptance of the bid of Don McClure, doing business
as Paducah Typewriter & Supply, as set out in Section 2 hereof shall be
conditioned upon .the proper execution by said bidder of All required
contract documents:
SECTION 4. Upon the approval of the Corporation Counsel of
said City of the execution of the contract, performance and payment bond

and the providing of satisfactory workmen's compensation insurance and
liability insurance, the City Manager of said City is hereby authorized
to execute said contract for and on behalf of said City.
SECTION 5. This ordinance shall be introduced and remain on file
for at least one (1) week for public inspection in the completed form in
which it shall be put upon its final passage, and if adopted shall be in
full force and effect ten (10) days thereafter.
