HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances Book 15, Page 17, No Ordinance Number11 ,1►, ; 1�� AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTIONS 7, 7-A, 8-A, 8-B, 8-C, 8-D AND 9, OF THE "APPOINTIVE EMPLOYEES CIVIL SERVICE ORDINANCE", WHICH WAS ADOPTED BY THE BOARD OF CONITISSIOAtERS ON DECEMBER 2, 194.7, AND AMENDED ON JANUARY 23, 1961, JULY 18, 1961 AND SEPTEMBER 12, 1961 BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COIJU4IISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. That Sections 7, 7-A, 8-A, 8-B, 8-C, 8-D and 9 of the "Appointive Employees' Civil Service Ordinance", which was adopted by the Board of Commissioners on December 2, 1947, and amended on January 23, 1961, July 18, 1961 and September 12, 1961, be, and they are hereby amended and reordained so that said sections as amended and reordained shall read as follows: "SECTION 7. There is hereby created and authorized the following positions in the Department of Finance, and the salary of each position, provided the amount of such salary is not changed under any �r apportion- ment ordinance hereafter adopted shall be as follows: Fosition Salary Per Month Finance Director, Head of Department (To be known also as City Treasurer) $525.00 Assistant Treasurer 350.00 Auditor 285.00 Bookkeepine Machine Operator (formerly bookkeeper) 275.00 Senior Clerk (formerly Deputy Treasurer) 260.00 Clerk -Stenographer 24.0.00 Machine Operator 260.00 Clerk -typist No. 1 (1 position) 24.0.00 ' Clerk -typist No. 2 (1 position) 21,0.00 License Inspector 335.00 The Clerk -typist No. 2 shall be paid at the rate of $210.00 per month for the first six months; and at the expiration of six months x'220.00 per month; and at the expiration of another six months $230.00 per month; and at the expiration of another six months $240.00 per month; such increases to be made upon recommendation of the City Manager. There is hereby authorized and created the following positions in the Public '''Iorks Department, heretofore known as the Street Department, and the salaries of each position, provided the amount of such salary is not changed under any apportionment ordinance hereafter adopted shall be as follows: Position Salary Per PZonth This department shall re under the direction and supervision of the Lirector of Fublic Works and Assistant Director of Public i]orks, non -civil service positions which have heretofore been created by separate ordinance. Chief Foreman of Streets & Sewers (formerly Assistant Superintendent of streets and sewers L25.00 Foremen (3 positions) 350.00 Clerk -typist 2L.0.00 The Clerk-t,,pist shall be paid at the rate of *200.00 per month for the first .six months; at the expiration of six months *;210.00 per month; at the expiration of another six months `220.00 per month; at the expiration of another six months *230.00 per month and at the expiration of another six months *2!..0.00 per month; such increases to he made upon recommendation of the City T.'anarer. Laborers shall be paid at the rate of $1.263, per hour for the first six months of employment and $1.40 per hour thereafter. Such increases to be made upon recommendation of the City Manager. .?:5 ( i "SECTION 8-D, Sub -Section 1 There is hereby authorized and created the following positions in the Floodwall Department, and "�•�� 1 the salary of each position, provided the amount of such salary O4` is not chanPed under any 3 apportionment ordinance hereafter adopted, shall be as follows: Position b'onthly Salary Floodwall Superintendent (Head of Department) $550.00 Floodwall Foreman 375.00 Floodwall Maintenance Man (3 positions) 320.00 The Floodwall Foreman shall be paid at the rate of $365.00 per I month for the first six months of employment and, upon recommendation of the City FanaFer, at the expiration of such six month period, such I salary shall be *375.00 per month. lg 139 r a! Hourlv Rate Sewer Maintenance men (8 positions) x'1,72 Equipment Operator (6 positions) 1.$O Street Repairmen (7 positions) 1.60 Truck Driver (10 positions) 1.53 Laborer (7 positions) 1.h5 Laborers shall be paid at the rate of $1.3712 per hour for the first six months of their employment and $1.45 per hour thereafter, such increases to be made upon recommendation of the City Manager. Chief Mechanic 1.$$ Auto Repairman (3 positions) 1.80 Mechanic Helper (1 position) 1,65 Refuse (Sanitary) Division This Division shall be under the direction of the above mentioned Director of Public Works and Assistant Director of Public Works. (No civil service employees) "SECTION 8-C. There is hereby authorized and created the a following positions in the Cemetery Department and the salary of /C each position, provided the amount of such salary is not changed O ' under any apportionment ordinance hereafter adopted shall be as follows: Position _ Hourlx.Rate This department shall be under the direction and supervision of the CemeterySuperintendent, a non -civil service position which has heretofore been created by separate ordinance and which is not included in this ordinance Laborers (3 positions) $1.40 Laborers shall be paid at the rate of $1.263, per hour for the first six months of employment and $1.40 per hour thereafter. "Sub -Section 2. There is hereby authorized and created the following positions in the Sewage Disposal Department, and the salary of each position, provided the amount of such salary is not chanced under any apportionment ordinance hereafter adopted, shall be as follows: Position Chief Operator Maintenance Tien Operators (3 positions) Monthly Salary $375.00 370.00 320.00 The Chief Operator and the Maintenance Pian shall be paid at the rate of $350.00 per month for the first six months of employment, and at the expiration of such period, upon recommendation of the City Manager, the salary of the Chief Operator shall be raised to $375.00 per month, and the salary of the Tiaintenance Pian shall be raised to $370.00 per month. The Operators shall be paid at the rate of $290.00 per month for the first sir, months of employment; at the expiration of six months 4300.00 per month; and at the expiration of another six months 6320.00 per month, such increases to be made upon recommendation of the City Manager. The Sewage Disposal Department shall be under the management and control of the Floodwall Superintendent, and the employees of the Floodwall Department, at his direction, may be assigned to work in the Sewage Disposal Department, and the employees of the Sewage Disposal Department, at his direction, may be assigned to work in the Floodwall Department, but any of such employees so assigned shall keep and maintain their civil service rights under the depart- ment to which they were originally assigned. There is hereby authorized and created the following positions not assigned to anv department of the City of Paducah, but directl-T under the supervision of the City 11anager, and the salary of each position, provided the amount of such salary is 6 J not changed under any apportionment ordinance hereafter adopted shall be as follows: z Position Monthly Sala City Clerk $350.00 Secretary to City Planaeer and Mavor 275.00 Social Worker 210.00 Maintenance Chief of Maintenance Division 390.00 .Maintenance Man (1 position) 275.00 Maintenance Helper (1 position) 260.00 Inspections Building & Electrical Inspector 425.00 Clerk -typist 240.00 . The Secretary to the MAyor and City Manager shall be paid at the rate of $250.00 per month for the first six months of employment; $260.00 per month for the next twelve months of employment and $275.00 per month thereafter. Such increases to be made upon recommendation of the City Manager Clerk -typist under this section shall be paid at the rate of $210.00 per month for the first six months of employment, $6220.00 per month for the next six months, :'230.00 per month for the next six months and $240.00 per month thereafter upon recommendation of the City Manager. The Building & Electrical Inspector shall perform the duties formerly performed by the Building Inspector and the Electrical Inspector, and said Building & Electrical Inspector shall be under the direct supervision of the City Manager." SECTIOR 2. All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are, to the extent of such conflict, hereby repealed. SECTION 3. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect on and after February 1, 1963. /tom C.
