HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances Book 15, Page 1029, No Resolution Number1029 A RESOLUTION CONSTITUTING THE RESPONSE OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY TO THE INTERROGATION OF THE COUNTY OF MCCRACKEN, KENTUCKY RESPECTING THE FORMATION OF A JOINT PLANNING UNIT WITHIN THE PURVIEW OF CHAPTER 100 OF THE KENTUCKY REVISED STATUTES WHEREAS by letter dated August l;, 1966, the County of McCracken, Kentucky, acting by and through the McCracken County Fiscal Court, has interrogated the City of Paducah, Kentucky respecting the formation of a Joint Planning Unit within the purview of Chapter 100 of the Kentucky Revised Statutes, and WHEREAS by resolution adopted on June 16, 1966 by this Board, the City of Paducah', Kentucky similarly interrogated. the County of McCracken, Kentucky, to which interrogation no response has been re- ceived, and WHEREAS it appears that a more sound proposal was embodied in the interrogation of the said County by the said City than was embodied in the interrogation of the said City by the said County, and WHEREAS it further.appears that the proposal embodied�in the interrogation of the said County by the said City will serve as a better basis for the consideration and creation of an agreement between the said City and the said County concerning the formation of a Joint Planning Unit, and WHEREAS it appears that the need for affirmative and early action by the said City and the said County is imperative if the best interests of the citizens of both the said County and the said City are to be served and preserved, and WHEREAS it appears that a desirable method of approaching the problem and accomplishing the objectives of both the said City and the said County would be as set forth hereinafter, NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. That the City of Paducah, -Kentucky shall respond to the aforesaid interrogation by the County of McCracken, Kentucky= to the effect that it does not desire to enter into an agreement with the said County under the terms proposed in said interrogation, which response shall be accomplished by the certification of a copy of this resolution to the County Judge of McCracken County, Kentucky, and to the McCracken County Fiscal Court, by the City Clerk. 1030 SECTION 2. That the County of McCracken, Kentucky and the McCracken County Fiscal Court be urged to consider promptly, and to take affirmative action on, the interrogation of the County of McCracken, Kentucky, as embodied in the aforesaid resolution of June 16, 1966. SECTION 3. That this Board ao on record in an expression of its continuing desire to _join with the County of McCracken, Kentucky and the McCracken County Fiscal Court in the formation of a Joint Planning Unit within the purview of Chapter 100 of the Kentucky Revised Statutes, and of its continuing willingness to cooperate in the accomplishment of that objective. SECTION 4. That this'resoliitibn shall be in full.force and effect from and after its adoption.
