HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances Book 14, Page 91, No Resolution NumberAW A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE CITY MANAGER TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR THE PURCHASE OF TWO (2) PACKER TYPE REFUSE BODIES MOUNTED ON HEAVY DUTY CABS AND CHASSIS, FOR USE IN THE REFUSE DIVISION, AND PRESCRIBING THE CONDITIONS UPON WHICH SUCH PURCHASE SHALL BE MADE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. That the City Manager be, and he is hereby, requested and directed to advertise for bids for the sale to the City of two (2) new packer type refuse bodies mounted on heavy duty cabs and chassis having the following specifications: Five speed transmission; approximately 1$,000 pounds single speed rear axle; approximately 9,000 pounds front axle; approximately gross H.P. rating of 1$2 H.P.; equipped with mechanical tachometer R.P.M. Governor; heavy duty cooling system; heavy duty generator, increased capacity springs; increased capacity brakes; front end tow hooks; dual electric windshield wipers; directional signals; West Coast type mirrors, one on each side; heater and defroster; 10.00 x 20 - 12 ply 100 level first line tires and tubes, front and rear, with spare mounted on cast spoke type wheels; colors and lettering to be specified. One of said units to have a capacity of approximately 16 cu. yds. and a cab to axle dimension of approximately 102 inches with tilt type cab and reinforced frame; the other unit to have a capacity of approx- imately 20 cu. yds. and to have cab to axle dimension approximately 135 inches with tilt type cab and reinforced frame. Each bidder is to state the amount he is willing to accept for the purchase price of said equipment; the length of time for delivery after contract is awarded and full details as to guarantees. SECTION 2. The City Manager shall advertise for bids by a notice posted at the City Hall door and by inserting notice of the request for bids in the Sun Democrat to be published once a week for three consecutive weeks. All bids shall be sealed and no bid shall be received after the hour fixed in the notice for the opening of same. All bids received by the City Manager up to the time fixed in the notice for the opening of same shall be filed with the Board of Commissioners who may let a contract to the lowest and best bidder, and the Board of Commissioners shall reserve the right to reject any and all bids and the City shall not become legally obligated to purchase said equipment until the adoption of an ordinance authorizing the execution of a purchase contract. 91 M SECTION 3.
