HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances Book 14, Page 86, No Ordinance NumberAN ORDINANCE PROPOSING ANNEXATION OF CERTAIN PROPERTY LYING ADJACENT TO THE SOUTH CORPORATE LIMITS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY; DEFINING ACCURATELY THE BOUNDARY OF SUCH -TERRITORY TO BE ANNEXED TO SAID CITY; AND DECLARING THE DESIRABILITY AND NECESSITY OF SUCH ANNEXATION BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. It is hereby proposed that certain territory adjacent to the south corporate limits of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, more particularly described hereinafter, be annexed to the City of Paducah, Kentucky, and that said property so proposed to be annexed is described as follows: Beginning at a point in the present city limits line, said point being the south west corner of the intersection of Highland Boulevard and the Lbne Oak Road (US 45); thence in a southerly and westerly direction along the westerly boundary of Forest Hills, recorded in Plat Book "E", page 41 McCracken County Court Clerk's office, said boundary being the present city limits, to the south west corner of the Marie Pilley tract acquired by deed recorded in Deed Book 400, page 30 in the McCracken County Court Clerk's office; thence north $$ degrees 35 minutes west along the south line of the Pilley tract, if extended to the westerly line of Smith; thence following Smith's westerly line in a northerly direction to the southerly property line of the Lone Oak Road; thence in an easterly direction along the southerly property line of the Lone Oak Road to the point of beginning. SECTION 2. It is hereby declared that extending the boundary of the City of Paducah, Kentucky by annexing the property described in Section 1 hereof is desirable and necessary. SECTION 3. This ordinance shall be published in at least ten (10) l issues of the Sun Democrat, a newspaper in Paducah, Kentucky, and the extension of the City Limits as herein proposed shall not become effective until the adoption of an ordinance annexing the property described in Sec- tion 1 hereof as herein proposed, and such ordinance shall not be adopted !II until publication of this ordinance as provided herein and until the expiration of a period of thirty (30) days after the passage of this ordinance. Notice is hereby given of a provision of Section $1.110 of Kentucky • Revised Statutes that one or more residents or freeholders of the herein territory proposed to be annexed may, within thirty (30) days after the enactment of this ordinance, file a petition in the Circuit Court of McCracken County, Kentucky, setting forth the reasons why such territory or any part of it, should not Ixe annexed. 87 SECTION 4.
