HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances Book 14, Page 847, No Resolution Number$47 A RESOLUTION PERTAINING TO THE NEW CITY HALL BUILDING WHEREAS the City of Paducah and its boards and agencies have pending with the Community Facilities Administration various applications for grants under the Accelerated Public Works Act, and WHEREAS one of the applications now pending is for funds for the construction of the City Hall, (APS^I-KY-41EG), and , WHEREAS in I.9arch 1962, the Housing and Home Finance Agency i� accepted from the Urban Renewal and Community Development Agency of p �I the City of Paducah, Kentucky, a project known as the Downtown Civic i Center Project Ky. R-30, which project was felt necessary to instill I confidence in industries interested in locating in the City of Paducah, i and the most urgent immediate necessity is a new City Hall, and WHEREAS the City has incVrred great expense and effort in pro- i curing the services of Edward D. Stone and Associates, Architects, the City Hall has now been designed, public rallies have been held regarding the new City Hall, M7. Stone has publicly unveiled and displayed the scale model, the site (consisting of an entire block) has been obtained and the clearing of it is now in progress, and i WHEREAS many other items of expense have been incurred and steps I have been taken so as to constitute the City Hall as the project of I immediate primary concern of the City in respect to its improvement j I program, and WHEREAS the construction of a new City Hall is of such utmost j importance as to constitute the very keystone of the City's community improvement efforts, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. That the Mayor and the Board of Commissioners, by and i on behalf of the City of Paducah and its various Boards and Agencies, hereby emphasize the urgent necessity that its application (APIl-Ky-44G) i to the Community Facilities Administration for a grant for the con- struction of a new City Hall be given first and foremost priority i among the applications pending from the City of Paducah; SECTION 2. That our Senators and Congressman be requested to impress such necessity y and priority upon the Community Facilities Administration, the Housing and Home Finance Agency, and Area Re- development Administration, and that they seek assurances from said agencies that the City Hall application is receiving such urgent j priority; and SECTION 3. That our congressional delegation ask for continuing status reports from said agencies so that the City may be kept advised of the current status of the application for City Hall funds. $4$ SECTION L.
