HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances Book 14, Page 841, No Resolution Number841 l✓ A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR ALTERATIONS TO THE BATHHOUSE AT NOBLE PARK IN THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY, AND PRESCRIBING THE TERMS AND MANNER IN WHICH SAID BIDS SHALL BE RECEIVED BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. That the City Manager be, and he is hereby, authorized to advertise for bids for alterations to the Bathhouse at Noble Park in the Citv of Paducah, Kentucky, such project consisting of: Primarily of razing the exterior halls and installing new brick and block walls, windows, doors, roof framing, asphalt shingles, sheet metal and all necessary plumbing and electrical work. An alternate is included for construction of a second floor office. Proposal forms, contract documents, plans and specifications are on file in the office of the City Manager, Paducah, Kentucky, the office of G. Anthony Johnston & Associates, Architests, 2635 Broadway, Paducah, Kentucky; F. W. Dodge Plan Rooms in the cities of St. Louis, Missouri; Memphis and Nashville, Tennessee; Louisville, Kentucky; Evansville, Indiana and the Associated General Contractors of Paducah, Kentucky. Copies of the documents may be obtained by depositing $25.00 with the Architect for each set of plans so obtained, $25.00 will be refumhd to each person who returns the plans, specifications and other documents in good condition within one (1) week after bid opening, to the Architect. Bidders returning unusable plans or specifications, or returning plans and/or specifications after the above mentioned one week period will be refunded $10.00. Plans will be available for the General Contractors, Material Dealers and Sub -Contractors who will bid with the General Contractors must obtain information fron sets available in the office of the Architect, Prime Contractor, Plan Rooms or City Manager's Office. A satisfactory bid bond executed by the bidder and acceptable sureties in the amount equal of 5% of the bid shall be submitted with each proposal. The successful bidder will be required to furnish and pay for satisfactory performance and payment bond. Attention is called to the .fact that not less than minimum salaries and wages as set forth in the specifications must be paid on this project. The City of Paducah reserves the right to reject any and all bids or to waive any irregularities in bidding. 842 No bid shall be withdrawn for a period of sixty (60) days subsequent to the opening of bids without the consent of the City of Paducah. SECTION 2. The City Manager shall advertise for sealed bids by a notice posted at the City Hall door and by inserting notice of the request for bids in the Sun -Democrat to be published not less than seven days nor more than twenty-one days before the date fixed for the opening of bids. All bids shall be sealed and no bid shall be received after the hour fired in the notice for the opening of same. All bids received by the City Manager up to the time fixed in the notice for the opening of same shall be filed with the Board of Commissioners who may let a contract to the lowest and best bidder, and the Board of Commissioners shall reserve the right to reject any and all bids and the City shall not become legally obligated to any bidder until the adoption of an ordinance authorizing the execution of a contract for the aforesaid alterations. SECTION 3. This resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its adoption.
