HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances Book 14, Page 781, No Resolution NumberA RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF SANITARY SEWERS IN THE AREA BOUNDED ON THE NORTH BY THE PINES ROAD; ON THE EAST BY 37TH STREET AND 40TH STREET; ON THE SOUTH BY BUCKNER LAND AND ON THE ?BEST BY THE CITY LIMITS. ALSO SEWERS ON BLANDVILLE ROAD FROM KENNEDY ROAD TO MINERVA PLACE AND ON MINERVA PLACE FROM BLANDVILLE ROAD TO SUNSET COURT, AND PRESCRIBING THE TERMO AND MANNER IN :"1HICH SAID BIDS SHALL BE RECEIVED BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. That the City Manager be, and he is hereby, authorized to advertise for bids for the construction of sanitary sewers as follows: The work to be performed consists of 12"-10" and $" extra strength U.C.P. gravity flow sanitary sewers with attendant 6" V.C.P. extra strength house service lines in the following area' The area bounded on the north by the Pines Road; on the east by 37-�h Street and 40th Street; on the south by Buckner Lane and on the west by the City Limits. Also sewers on Blandville Road from Kennedy Road to Minerva Place and on Minerva Place from Blandville Road to Sunset Court. Copies of the plans, specifications and other proposed contract documents are on file at the office of the City Engineer, Paducah, Kentucky. Contractors desiring plans and specifications for use in preparing bids may obtain a set of such documents from the City Engineer at the address stipulated above upon deposit of $50.00. The full amount of the deposit will be refunded to each bidder who has made such deposit and who has filed his bid with the Owner as directed in this notice and upon the forms as prescribed, upon the return of all documents not filed with his bid. A cashiers check, certified check, or acceptable bidder's bond, payable to -the Owner in an amount not less than 5 per cent of the total for the bid submitted, must accompany each bid as a guarantee that, if awarded the contract, the bidder will promptly enter into a con- tract and execute such bonds as may be required. Each bidder to whom a contract is awarded will be required to furnish a performance bond acceptable to the City in the amount of 100 per cent of the contract, in conformity with the requirements of the proposed contract documents. The right is reserved by the City to reject any or all bids and to waive informalities therein. No bidder may withdraw his 782 a bid for a period of 45 days after the time set for receipt of bids without the consent of the City of Paducah. SECTION 2. The City Manager shall advertise for bids by a notice posted at the City Mall door and by inserting notice of the request for bids in the Sun -Democrat as provided for by law. All bids shall be sealed and no bid shall be received after the hour fixed in the notice for the opening of same. All bids received by the City Ianager up to the time fixed for the opening of same shall be .filed with the Board of Commissioners who may let a contract to the lowest and best bidder, and the Board of Commissioners shall reserve the right to reject any and all bids and the City shall not become legally obligated to award a contract until the adoption of an ordinance authorizing the execution of a contract. SECTION 3.
