HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances Book 14, Page 703, No Ordinance Number703 / v AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF CERTAIN LAND FROM MONT EDWARDS AND WIFE, ALICE EDWARDS; FIXING THE PURCHASE PRICE OF SAME AND PROVIDING FOR THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF SUCH PURCHASE BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COMNIISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. That the City of Paducah, Kentucky, pursuase from Mont Edwards and wife, Alice Edwards, the following described tract if land lying and being in McCracken County, Kentucky, more particularly described as follows, to -wit: Beginning at the northwest corner of the inter section of Terrell St. and the Paducah Flood Wall, thence in a northerly direction, and with the westerly line of Terrell St. to the low water mark of the Ohio River; thence down the river with the low water mark thereof in a Westerly direction to the Fletcher Terrell line; thence in a southerly direction and with the Fletcher Terrell line to the right of way of the Paducah Flood Wall; thence with the lines of the Paducah Flood Wall to Terrell St., the point of beginning. This conveyance includes all the property bounded on the east by the line of Terrell St.; on the north by the low water mark of the Ohio River; on the west by the Fletcher Terrell (formerly E. C. Terrell) property; and on the south by the land owned by the City of Paducah for Flood Wall purposes, but subject to any flood wall easements existing of record. The property herein conveyed contains 70 acres more or less. Being the same property conveyed to Mont Edwards and wife, Alice Edwards, by Wyatt Bell and wife, Emma N. Bell, by deed dated May 4, 1951, and of record in Deed Book 301, page 245 in the McCracken County Court Clerk's Office. SECTION 2. The purchase price to be paid for the land described in Section 1 hereof shall be the sum of $14,000.00, and upon receipt of a general warranty deed conveying said land to the City of Paducah, approved by the Corporation Counsel, the City Treasurer is hereby authorized and directed to pay to the said Mont Edwards and wife, Alice Edwards, the sum of $14,000.00. SECTION 3. Full and complete possession of the land described in Section 1 hereof is to be delivered to the City of Paducah not later than December 31, 1962. SECTION 4. This ordinance shall be introduced and remain on file for public inspection for at least one (1) week in the completed form in which it shall be put upon its final passage, and if adopted shall be in full force and effect ten (10) days thereafter. �% t Mayor Introduced by the Board of Commissioners March 13, 1962 Passed by the Board of Commissioners March 21, 1962 Recorded by Sarah Thurman, City Clerk, March 21, 1962.
