HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances Book 14, Page 687, No Resolution Number6f'7 i A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY, PROTESTING AGAINST THE PASSAGE OF LEGISLATION AT THE 1962 SESSION OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE COMMONWEALTH OF KENTUCKY, INCREASING THE MINIMUM SALARY OF MAYORS AND COMMISSIONERS OF CITIES OF THE SECOND CLASS WHEREAS it has appeared in newspapers that there is now pending before the Legislature at Frankfort, Kentucky, a Bill proposing raising the minimum salary of mayors of cities of the second class to $7,200.00 per year, and raising the minimum salary of each commissioner of such cities to $6,000.00 per year, and WHEREAS efforts to obtain a copy of said Bill have been un- successful, but the Board of Commissioners of the City of Paducah desires to make its position clear in regard to any such proposed legislation which would force upon the City unwarranted increases in expenditure. HOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COI,IMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. That the Board of Commissioners of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, go on record vigorously opposing the passage of any legis- lation at the 1962 Session of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky raising the minimum salary of mayors of cities of the second class to $7,200.00, and the raining the minimum salary, of each of the commissioners of such cities to $6,000.00 per year. SECTION 2. That the City Manager be, and he is hereby, directed to send copies of this Resolution to Hon. Julian Carroll and Hon. Fred H. Morgan, Representatives from McCracken County; to Hon. Tom Garrett, Senator from McCracken County and to Hon. Bert Combs, Governor of the Commonwealth of Kentucky. SECTION 3. This Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its adoption.
