HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances Book 14, Page 419, No Resolution Number419 ,� A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE CITY MANAGER TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR THE PURCHASE OF THE CITY'S REQUIRE1.7,HT OF LIIESTONE FOR THE YEAR 1961 (APPROXIMATELY 5000 TO 8000 TONS) TO BE USED IN STREET CONSTRUCTION JORK BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COPTS SSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. That the City Manager be, and he is hereby authorized to advertise for bids for the City's requirement of limestone for the year 1961 (approximately 5000 'to $000 tons). Bid price to be F.O.B. to any destination in the cit;T limits of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, as specified by the Director of Public :9orks. The Limestone is to be delivered as ordered, by collect telephone call to the successful bidder or bidders, in 100 ton lots or more and the successful bidder is to guarantee to start delivery within twenty-four hours after notification and continue until -the required amount has been delivered. The limestone must meet the specifications known and listed as Kentucky State Highway Specifications for No. 7, No. 8, No. 9 and No. 11 limestone. The successful bidder may be required to furnish representative samples of any and all items and all weights of delivered material must be certified from some accurate scales in or near the City of Padycah at the expense of the successful bidder. All bids shall provide a guarantee against advanxe in market price and shall guarantee a reduction in price in the event of a decrease in market prce. The successful bidder shall post a per- formance bond in the sum of •,1,500.00 guaranteeing specifications and delivery. The City reserves the right to reject any and all bids and to accept the lowest and 'gid. SECTION 2. The City Manager shall advertise for sealed bids by posting a notice at the City Hall door and by inserting notice of the request for bids in the Sun Democrat to be published not less than seven (7) days nor more than twenty-one (21) days before the date fixed for 'the opening of bids. All bids shall be sealed and no bid shall be received after the hour fixed in the novice for the opening of same. Q11 bids received by the City I-ianager up to -the time fixed in the notice for the opening of same shall be filed with the Board of Commissioners who may let a contract to the lowest and best bidder, and 'the Board of Commissioners shall reserve the right 420 to reject any and all bids and the City shall not become leEally oblicated to any bidder until the adoption of an ordinance authorizin-g the execution of the purchase contract. SECTIOPI 3. This Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its adoption.
