HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances Book 14, Page 371, No Ordinance Number371 AN ORDINANCE ACCEPTING THE OFFER OF WOODROW HOOK AND WIFE, LILLIAN HOOK, HARRY MATHIS AND WIFE, FLORENCE MATHIS, AND WOODROW HOOK AND HARRY MATHIS, PARTNERS, DOING BUSINESS AS H & M MOTORS FOR THE CONVEYANCE OF CERTAIN LAND OWNED BY THEM AS PAYMENT FOR CERTAIN LAND OWNED BY THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY; PRESCRIBING THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF SAME, AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO CONVEY SAID LAND OWNED BY THE CITY TO WOODROW HOOK AND WIFE, LILLIAN HOOK, HARRY MATHIS AND WIFE, FLORENCE MATHIS WHEREAS, the City of Paducah owns certain land at the south- west corner of the intersection of 16th Street and Kentucky Avenue and on the north side of Washington Street between 16th Street and 17th Street, and WHEREAS, said land is no longer needed to carry on the governmental functions of the City, and WHEREAS, Woodrow Hook and wife, Lillian Hook, Harry Mathis and wife, Florence Mathis, and woodrow Hook and Harry Mathis, partners, doing business as H & M Motors, own certain land on the west side of South 3rd Street between Kentucky Avenue and Washington Street which is suitable for city governmental pur- poses, and WHEREAS, said land on South 3rd Street has been offered to the City as the purchase price of the above land owned by the City. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. That the hereinafter described land owned by the City of Paducah is no longer needed to carry on any governmental function of the City, which land is described as follows: TRACT NO. 1 Beginning at the north west corner of the inter section of 16th Street and Washington Street; thence northwardly with the west line of 16th Street 160 feet to the south line of an alley; thence westwardly with the south line of said alley and parallel with Washington Street 39 feet; thence southwardly and parallel with 16th Street 160 feet to a point on the north line of Washington Street; thence eastwardly with the north line of Washington Street 39 feet to the point of beginning. TRACT NO. 2 Beginning at a point on the north line of Washington Street 39 feet west of 16th Street; thence northwardly and parallel with 16th Street 372 160 feet to the south line of an alley; then, westy{ardly with the south line of said alley parallel with Washington Street 33 feet; the; southwardly and parallel with 16th Street 16 feet to a point on the north line of Washing Street; thence eastwardly with the north lin Washington Street 33 feet to the point of be; ning, and being the property known as 1635 Washington Street. TRACT NO. 3 Beginning at the southwest corner of the int tion of 16th Street and Kentucky Avenue; the westwardly with the south line of Kentucky A 158.86, to the east line of the Operle land; southwardly with the east line of the Operle and parallel with 16th Street 173.25' to the line of an alley; thence eastwardly with the north line of said alley and parallel to Kentucky Avenue 158.86, to a point on the west line of 16th Street; thence northwardly with the west line of 16th Street 173.25' to the point of beginning. TRACT NO. 4. Beginning at a point on the north line of Washington Street 110.93 feet westwardly from the northwest cor- ner of Washington and Sixteenth (16th) Street; thence towards Seventeenth (17th) Street and with the north line of Washington Street 46 feet to a point; thence at a right angle to the right and parallel with the west line of Sixteenth (16th) Street 160 feet to a 13.25 foot alley, which alley has heretofore been dedicated by party of the first partts grantor in the rear of said lot and certain adjacent lots.here- tofore owned by party of the first part's grantor; thence at right angle to the right and with the line of said alley and aprallel with the north line of Washington Street 46 feet to a point; thence at a right angle to the right and parallel with the west line of Sixteenth (16th) feet 160 feet to the point of beginning. SECTION 2. That the Mayor and City Clerk be, and they are hereby, authorized and directed to convey the land of the City described in Section 1 hereof to Woodrow Hook and wife, Lillian Hook, Harry Mathis and wife, Florence Mathis, upon the receipt of a properly executed deed, approved by the Corporation Counsel, from them and from Woodrow Hook and Harry Mathis, partners, doing business as H & M Motors, conveying to the City of Paducah the following described land: TRACT NO. 1 Lot No. 131, Block No. 15, Original Town Addition to the City of Paducah, Kentucky, and lying on 3rd Street between Kentucky Avenue and Washington Street in "Bn of Third Addition to Paducah, and beginning at a point on the west side of 3rd Street 57 feet 9 inches south of the southwest corner of 3rd and Kentucky Avenue; thence at right angles in a westerly direction 173 feet 3 inches; thence at right angles and in a southerly direction 57 feet 9 inches; thence at right angles and in an easterly direction 173 feet 3 inches to the west line of 3rd Street; thence with the west line of 3rd Street and in a northerly direction 57 feet 9 inches to the point of beginning. 373 TRACT NO. 2. Being all of Lot #129 and a part of Lot #128, Block 15, Addition "A", to the City of Paducah, Kentucky. Beginning at a point on the west side of South Third Street, 173 feet and 3 inches south of the southwest intersection of Third and Kentucky Avenue; runs thence at right angles, parallel with Kentucky Avenue and with the line of the property of the "ity of Paducah, 173 feet and 3 inches; thence -at right angles and in a southerly direction, 69 feet and 3 inches; runs thence at right angles and in an easterly direction, 173 feet and 3 inches to South Third Street; runs thence with the west line of Third Street and in a northerly direction 69 feet 3 inches to the place of beginning. Said deed shall be made subject to any defects, encroachments or other state of facts which might be shown by an accurate survey of the land. SECTION 3.
