HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances Book 14, Page 304, No Resolution NumberA RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE CITY MANAGER TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR TIE PURCHASE OF ONE (1) NE -101 REFUSE PACKER AND TRUCK FOR USE IN THE DEPART,�MIJT Or, PUBLIC WORKS, AND PRESCRIBING THE CONDITIONS UPON WHICH SUCH PURCHASE SHALL BE MADE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COAB'IISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. That the City Manager be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to advertise for bids for the sale to the city of one (1) neva refuse packer and truck for use in the Department of Public :9orks, having the £ollorai ng specifications: One (1) 16 cu, yd. Packer type refuse body mounted on heavy duty cab and chassis Truck Manufacturers G.V.W. rating minimum of 25,000 lbs Cab to axle dimension approximately 102 inches with tilt type cab and reinforced frame Five (5) speed transmission 18,000 lbs. single speed rear axle 9,000 lbs, front axle Minimum gross H.P. rating of 1$2 H.P. Equipped with mechanical tachometer R.P.PI. Governor Heavy duty cooling system Heavy duty generator Increased capacity springs Increased capacity brakes Front end tow hooks Dual electric windshield snipers Directional signals :lest coast type mirrors, one on each side Heater and defroster 10..00 x 20 - 12 -ply 100 level first line tires and tubes, front and rear, with spare mounted on cast spoke type wheels Colors and lettering to be specified. Each bidder is to state the amount he will accept in cash for the purchase price of such refuse packer and truck, and also the amount of such pun chase price to be allowed by accepting as trade-in of one (1) 1953 G.I1.C. cab and chassis with Gqrwood packer body. Each bidder shall state the percentage of discount that will be allowed the city on the purchase of future parts, shall state the length of time required for delivery after a purchase contract is awarded, and shall give full information as to guarantees. 305 'SECTION 2. The City Manager shall advertise for bids by a notice posted at the City Hall door and by inserting notice of the request for bids in the Sun Democrat to be published once a week for three consecutive weeks. All bids shall be sealed and no bid shall be received after the hour fixed in the notice for the opehing of same. All bids received up to the time fixed in the notice for the opening of same shall be filed with the Board of Commissioners who may let a contract to the lowest and best bidder. The Board reserves the right to reject any and all bids and the city shall not become obligated to purchase said refuse packer and truck until the adoption of an ordinance authorizing the execution of a purchase contract.
